You should pitch them. There is debate whether the coating is safe or not - they say it could be carcinogenic. If the coating is flaking, then it's getting into your food.

There's the misconception that when the non-stick coating on a pan flakes off and is ingested, it will cause some harm.

Well, here's the good news: If a DuPont non-stick coating (teflon) flakes off and is eaten, it poses no health threat. It is inert, which means it passes through the body and is not absorbed. It is not harmful.

Now, to the main question: What do you do with a peeling non stick pan? Is it ruined or can it be fixed?

Coating (or recoating) a pan - with teflon - is an extemely technical activity. But it can be done. However, considering the cost and the hassle, I think it would be best to declare your pan 'ruined'.

It's ruined. Throw it away and go get a cast iron pan. Use a nonstick cooking spray, butter, or oil to prevent sticking. If something does stick you can always scrub the hell out of it with a steel sponge. Do not let water sit in it and when you wash it dry it immediately or it will rust.

You need to throw it away and purchase a new one. There is no way to repair or recoat them yourself. I imagine if you could have it done professionally, it would cost much more than the pan was worth anyway. Besides this, it is under debate that the flaking coating may be dangerous to your health. If it is flaking, it is more than likely getting into your food. Why take the chance?? I hope this helps you. Have a nice day.

Toss it. They tend to flake if the heat is too high, saw something about it a few years ago on TV, they said not to use the high setting and stay at the medium setting and it wouldn't peel.
Now they have some better nonstick surfaces. Is it Analon or something like that?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to repair a peeling non-stick surface. You may want to trade it for a stainless steel pan: It will last longer.

Throw it out! Once it is damaged it becomes dangerous to your health. Look it up online. Much has been said about it lately.

If it is peeling you have to just replace it.

Discard and buy a new one. Teflon is toxic if ingested, so please do not use it if the inside is ruined.
