Little early to be weeding out the bigots isn't it?

I can honestly say I have mixed feelings on gay marriage, not because of any religious or pro-creation reasons. Personally, the thought is somewhat offensive to me...but there are many things offensive to me that I can't control. In my opinion gay marriage twists the "intent" of marriage, but believe me, many straight marriages miss the mark in terms of the intent of marriage.

I believe two people who love each other should be allowed to marry whether or not I find it offensive.

I would ask any bible thumping Christian types who use religion and the bible to form their opinion, if they are in fact living their lives to the LITERAL interpretation of the bible. If not, clean your house first, before going all self-righteous on others.

I honestly think that there are no real reasons why homosexuals shouldn't marry. People just don't agree with it. Those people need to realize that homosexuals are just like heterosexuals. The only main difference is that it's two people of the same sex who love each other. I hate it when people think they can just "fix" gay people by stopping gay marrages. I don't think that homosexuals should change what they do or what they believe because it's against someone else's beliefs.

Yes I'm sure we broke some rules along the way, But if you plan to Marry with the same sex you ARE excepting that you are sinning in the eyes of god. Just like I excepted that I sinned when I told a lie. And when you marry same sex you choose this for your self. you choose to entire in to marriage with this sin. From the beginning of time it was a sin and its still a sin nothing has changed in that regard, once a sin always a sin and no one person can change that. until GOD could come down on the earth and say to everyone, that this rule will change, then so be it.

To play devil's advocate here...

"Marriage" as a word is associated with religious institutions. Should a religious institution decide to grant this right to homosexuals, that would be their choice. However, there is no overriding reason that religious institutions should be forced to accomodate homosexuals.

However, this also means that the government has no right sanctioning "marriage" in that name, but rather a legal union which should be available to both homosexuals and heterosexuals. This legal union would go hand in hand with marriage for those who were accepted for the religious word, and those who were shunned would retain the same legal rights.

To force the church to accept homosexuality is not right, but neither is allowing the government to sanction a church institution which then becomes discriminatory.

Marriages for some, civil unions for others, and let's face it. Very, very few people are going to follow scripture when it comes to getting down and dirty.

I dont disagree with it per say. I suppose a legitimate reason would be if children were to be involved. Many think that children should be brought up in an environment where they have both a male and female influence, so they grow up understanding both. Having said that many children come out of single parent families fine and many a**holes come out of of 2 parent families. Nuff said..!

i dont have any objection to gay ppl (sorry for the offensive word, but thats what they are) should marry. if they love each other and want to live with each other for the rest of their lives, then by all means, GET MARRIED!!! dont go by what the media or what ur friends are saying. let them talk, it just goes to show u that ur friends dont have anything else to talk about and they must not be happy in their own relationships. what my question is, is that if God created us equal, then why on earth is every body against gay ppl? they are all just regular ppl and should be treated like so. theyre not like caged animals only let out into the public for certain things. we all read the news and we all breathe the same air, so why is everyone going up each others butts about this stuff? its getting to be ridiculous. if youre gay, thats awesome. i luv that fact that people are comfortable in their own skin. why do people think that just because other ppl are from west virginia think that they are a product of incest? prolly because its true. but hey, if gays want to get married, then by all means, forget the media and other lawmakers, they dont run ur life, u do. go out and be married to ur significant other.

Because marriage is a union between a man and woman so they can procreate. Two men can't procreate, two women can't procreate. Homosexuality is unnatural. Name one other species that participate in homosexual relations!

There are none.

and the next time one of those "fundies" tells you that "this union can't produce children"

Ask him/her if the state should ban marriage if one or both of the participants is infertile.

"The Bible is against it" is also a ridiculous reason to base any law.

This is your usually neo-con strawman, it gets their side fired up and voting....

What are the legitimate reasons that I have to hear about this crap day in day out? I couldn't care less what you do behind closed doors. Maybe people would be more tolerant towards the homosexual community if they didn't have its agenda shoved down their throats so often.
