I am a runner and I am considering ice baths after long runs.

Honestly i have no idea! I also enjoying my runs, especially up hill runs. I have heard that its effective, but i couldn't tell you anything for sure. Its meant to be a relaxant obviously, my best bet would be to research it, and give it a shot, i dont see how this could do you any harm

yes--just keep ice bottles in freezers(use pepsi bottles filled with water) and put on pain.
Magnets off fridge is great also
leave ice on pain 20 min,.
