I would call your doctor...just to be on the safe side. With my first, I never had any of the expected signs. One morning, I simply woke up feeling a bit off. I called my doctor and he had me come in. Anyway, I was already dilated to 7 and six hours later, gave birth to my daughter.

a show is usually quite gloopy and stained with pink, tho its not always obvious when it happens.
sounds like you had some 'braxton hicks' contractions, which are quite painful and are like warming up exercises for you!
i had them for 2 weeks before i actually went into labour with my 3rd, some friends had hardly any at all.
once you reach 40 wks, help move baby down by walking up n down stairs as many times as you can manage without causing discomfort! helps move head down onto cervix.
apart from that, make most of this time as you will be busy busy busy very soon! rest lots, and i wish you the very best.. its so brilliant being a mum, look out for feeling blue few days after birth, its normal, you'll soon settle into the roller coaster of being a parent, make friends with yuor health visitor, if she's a good one she will be full of useful advice and help.
take any offers of help, do not try and tidy up for visitors, make your hubby turn people away when yuo are tired, or you he and baby will not have enough time to rest and get to know each other!
we had a kind of time table when we agreed people could come over. some would be visitors get offended if you say , no, not now, but hell, its your baby, your birth you getting over, and real friends will respect that and only visit when you say you feel up to it! its exciting to have lots of peole over and retell all the birth details, but it will leave you too tired to cope with new baby, and if you want to breastfeed you need lots of rest.
have fun!!
good luck!!

Sounds like you could be in the first stages of labor. Just dont go to far from the hospital. Is this your first pregnancy? Happened to me to! Then 2 days later i was in the hospital. Good Luck and Congratulations!
P.S. Those 'bad pains' could have very well been contractions

bloody show doesn`t always occur in pregnancies...but if you`re having really bad pains, you need to talk to your health care providers. i`ll be 39 weeks in 2 days, so i`m worried about that, too. but, i would strongly suggest if you`re having contractions, time them, and CALL YOUR DOCTOR. it`s better to ask your doctor and be checked out, because you could be fully effaced and progressing dilation.

your getting ready. just relax. make sure your bags are packed and stay close to home at all times. make sure the baby stuff is ready for when you get home. and try to get some sleep if you can. just relax sleep and be prepared. call your doctor about this so that he knows what is going on. good luck.
