I'm equally stunned.
Of course you shouldn't give govt. too much power. Power corrupts.
I tell you this though, this is the tip of the iceberg. Once Bush gets out of office, we will discover the depths to which he has overrun his authority and violated citizens rights.
We don't know all the facts yet, but its coming.

I am really getting sick of hearing stories like this. Somebody needs to get control of the Bush administration. I thought impeachment was a ridiculous concept months ago, but it seems like every day there is a story about mismanagement in govt or 10 billion dollars missing in Iraq.

When the patriot act was first passed into legislation I was fairly certain it would be abused, the only thing I find surprising is that it took this long.

The Patriot Act is another reason why gov't is out of control.
I did look at your link. The FBI has no business forcing businesses to hand over personal customer information of any American.

Every governmental branch will abuse nearly every power it can find to the greatest extent that the people will allow it. So long as the people are able to fight back, the government is held in proper check.

Yes, I am surprised everyone is more willing to support terrorists than try to catch them before they do something worse than fly planes into buildings.
I guess people are forgetting who the enemy is.
