You know what I mean, I have a drawer full of "Just in case", or almost empty, or things I bought on sale that frankly I'll probably never wear.

A long time. It costs so much, you hate to part with it. It's very aggravating when you find make-up items you like and then when you need to replace those items, they are nowhere to be found in the stores. It seems cosmetic companies are always experimenting with packaging, changing names of products, and changing colors. I always end up with things I don't like.

I keep the just in case items for a very long time (try infinity) and I dump the almost empty stuff b/c i probably had it to long as it is .As for the sale stuff it usually is brand new so I will give it to a friend & it likely becomes her "just in case"

Until I throw it out I guess. I really need to go through my old makeup and throw it out. I wouldn't wear a lot of it now because I know its filled with yucky bacteria now. Definitely go purge your unwantables. Your space will look so much nicer and it will save time trying to find the makeup you do wear. Maybe I'll do that this weekend :)

Throw all that away. I try to write dates on all of make-up when it's first puchased and after three months I toss it if there's any left. Experts have told me make-up does go bad and can cause infections (like styes,ect...). It is made with chemicals that can loose there effective-ness after a while- just like other things. Like suntan lotions- they say they will expire after a while and not even work. I hope that helps you.

You're supposed to toss things after a certain amount of time--I know off the top of my head that mascara's 6 months and eyeshadow's about a year--but I don't half the time.

I have a bright blue mascara that came free with some other make-up that I'm saving for when I'm 60. I want to wear it to the party :o). I wouldn't dream of wearing it now, though.

I used to hold onto everything, and like you, buy stuff I never use. I finally switched to Estee Lauder, and threw all the other stuff out. Now I have just what I use, and was able to go to a smaller makeup bag.......

Oh, my god, I still have stuff that I had like 15 years ago. I don't use it, of course. Don't even open it, I think there might be a new life in there now. For some reason, I don't throw it out.

I usually try to throw it away, like mascara....I always throw away because it doesn't last long, but I keep eye shadows that I occasionally use, in a container.

I keep makeup for years sometimes, because I hardly ever wear it. I don't have but one eyeshadow, a lip gloss, and mascara....not sure how old they all are.
