I've never understood this. I've always given the best to my family, friends, etc...and I've always put myself on the last place...

Self esteem is the most attractive quality I see in a loved one. I cannot stand to see those around me to be sad or insecure.

If you don't love yourself, then there is very little chance of loving other people. Why? Because you need to accept everything about yourself and embrace your good/bad qualities.

Hatred and low self worth takes more energy than love. A person becomes too incapacitated with little room in their heart for others.

So, make room in your heart for yourself and others will find room for themselves too.

Good luck and G-d bless !!

I can somewhat agree. If you put yourself last doesn't necessary mean that you don't love yourself. It just means that you are unselfish. I am like that, I always do for myself last. Now there was a time in my life that I had so much negativity on the inside that I couldn't have a relationship with the people I loved because I couldn't find anything good at all. That was my mind playing tricks on me though.

You can put yourself in any place you wish.. but can you answer the question "do you love yourself" if you can truly answer yes then you can also love others.. if you cannot answer the question, perhaps what you are giving all those friends family and others is something wonderful but not love

I'm not really sure, but I say that all the time, I tell my mom who's 93 years old. to try to get her motivated. but in a way I think it is true in some way, but other ways I don't. but you have to start putting yourself in first place and then your family and then your friends. You do have to take care of yourself first.

loving yourself really means taking care of your personality, you try to be...lets say healthy , having good values , and you proyect an image of a person that progresses in maturity and in usefulness, a more valuable person capable of....yes , love and appreciate others , but if you just care of the beautiful face youll see when you wake up Saturday ... then , thats different ,dont expect real respect to a noble feeling as is love, maybe some "fun" but , love always takes different patterns than just "luck" .

The saying is you can't love others if you don't love yourself...Putting yourself last, doesn't mean you don't love yourself (personal experience), not loving yourself means you think you're not worthy, loveable..etc.

Why you dont love youself? thats the question..you should never hate yourself.
Its good to put people first, but you should consider your needs and feelings too.
