i woke up at about 4am one morning when i was 9 months pregnant, feeling like i needed the loo. when i got out of bed, i felt something give way, and a gush of clear liquid went all over my brand new bedroom carpet ! it's one of those things that most women definitely know has happened, but i guess that it could also leak slowly. as one person said, if u can't stop the flow by squeezing your pelvic muscles, then it's a safe bet that it's your waters rather than just pee.

You will either have a sudden gush of fluid from the vagina, which may or may not be preceeded by a popping sensation - or you may possibly have a slower leaking of clear fluid from the vagina if the membrane ruptures but the baby is engaged and it's head plugs the opening of the cervix.
If either happens, call your caregiver as soon as possible for a check.

It's like peeing from your vagina, except it's not pee. You cannot control it. It just gets out.
I woke up in the middle on the night and I had contractions so I put a jar under me and boom the fluid went out so I collected it in the jar because I was told the color of it would determine if the child was ok.

Amniotic fluid is sweet smelling and slippery. Sometimes you might have a slow leak rather than the big burst you see on TV which happens I think only 10% of the time. To differentiate the leak from urine, catch it in a cup. Urine will smell more like ammonia. Both can be similar in color, though.

its water not waters...and you will feel a gush of warm water flow out of you. it doesnt hurt but you cant miss it. its like a waterfall...theres a lot. then shortly after it will just keep trickling out. thats when you know you have to go to the hospital right away even if you are not experiencing labor pains. the baby is coming :)

There will generally be a large wet spot in your pants, almost like you peed yourself. There may also be a gush of fluid.
