Hi, i am thinking of going to Slovakia to visit some friends this summer, i will be visiting a place called Dolny Kubin and Poprad also Bratislava, has anyone been to these places? If so, what are they like? Also is it a safe place for a girl?? Are taxi's expensive? If anybody knows anything it would be really helpful! thanx!

I live in Slovakia at the moment. It is relatively safe here. Just take sensible precautions with your belongings.
Bratislava is a great place for sightseeing and shopping, and not too expensive.
If you get the chance, ask your friends to take you to a neighbouring country. You can often do it on a day trip. So far I've been to Hungary, Poland, Austria and Czech Republic. All excellent places.

I was in Bratislava last August.
It seems to be safe, you just need to watch for old drunk men on the streets..but it seems ok, specially if you go with Slovak friends (which was my case).
It is beautiful there, I really want to go back!
Try to go to Bojnice as well...great place on summer!
