I found out yesterday from my dr that my blood pregancy test came back negative so therefore I'm not pregant from what she told me and I have started my what I hoped was my period for 2 days. But I still feel a bit nausueas but not as much and I have noticed that I've gained few pounds, not sure as too why. How accurate are blood pregancy tests and are there such a thing as false blood pregancy tests?

Highly, highly unlikely.

If you have had a negative blood test and started your period you are almost certainly not pregnant. In fact, if you were a patient at the clinic I would go so far as to say you definitely weren't pregnant.

Nausea is a very nonspecific symptom, it could be anything at this point. And even if all the tests are wrong and you were newly pregnant, you shouldn't be gaining any weight just yet. It would more likely be just a bit of hormonal fluid retention, which happens to a lot of women around period time. Or perhaps you are eating a bit more than normal if you are anxious.

If you are wanting a baby - just keep trying!

Any HCG level below 5 in a blood test will come back as negative. If you are under stress, it messes with your period cycle too. You might have gained a few pounds from retaining water (if it is a quick gain) due to hormones that signal your period is about to start, or from stress eating, possibly. Unfortunately, the blood test is not wrong. You can get false negatives with a home test, if you test too early, but the blood tests are super-sensitive.

My mom had alot of false blood pregnancy tests until she was 6 months along. But the chances of that happening is very rare. You don't gain weight like that when you are first pregnant. Nausea could be from anything. Just take it as your not pregnant, stop thinking about it and if your still having problems have another blood test done, and see if you have other problems causing the nausea! Good luck.

There is no such thing as a false blood pregnancy test. You've probably just worked yourself up thinkng that you are pregnancy that you are having phantom symptoms.

They are fairly accurate and I have never heard of a false blood reading. It tests for the pregnancy hormone in your blood and if the hormone in not present...

With blood tests I say always true. However if you are worried you need to call your doctor back, there are other things that may need to be looked at and I would call to be safe. HOwever I felt nausa during some periods and always gained weight during that time.
