I am so annoyed by the dumb people around me! Druggies, cheaters, liars, abusers, moochers, mean people, and just plain stupid people. Why are there so many idiots in the world?!?!?

Just to clarify I don't think somebody with a sense of humor or who takes some things lightly is necessarily dumb, but I do think people who make the same mistakes over and over and then complain about it are idiots. I also do not surround myself with these kinds of people but there are so many of them that it is impossible to avoid, unless you never leave your house and never listen to or read any news. That is not practical or possible for most people.

Also...I didn't think I used any big or hard-to-understand words. Sorry if I was talking over your head, that was not my intention.

Resis I am way past college age and IQ is more like 140 when last tested (years ago), but I wasn't referring to just IQ as much as overall stupidity in people's decisions and actions.

This is a statistical answer. Let's assume for a moment that you're a college student. The AVERAGE college student has an IQ of 115 (and you may be an above average college student either now or in the future). I have no way of judging your intelligence from your question, but let's be charitable and assume you are at least as intelligent as the average college student.
An IQ of 115 means that you are more intelligent than about 84% of the population. So many of the people you meet will not be as intelligent as you are--although if you are young, many of the people you meet will have more knowledge than you do (there's a difference between IQ and knowledge).
In some sense high intelligence can be a curse, because if you don't learn how to get along with people who are less intelligent than you are, you will be frustrated most of your life (and your acquaintances will be too). You will also have trouble being successful, because no one likes an intelligent jerk.
From the tone of your message, it seems like you're still learning how to get along with people who are less intelligent. Keep trying, it's important for your future that you figure out how to do this.

No, it might not be the world but your own attitude. Many people try to take things lightly by choice and you have no idea the level of their intelligence. One is not dumb to see the humorous side of things that you may take more seriously. Lighten Up! Or surround yourself with the type of people you would better appreciate. Good Luck! @8-)

I'm smart, but don't like good on paper. I can safely say that I am the only person on my staff who know the Malcolm X's parents were Louise Norton & Earl Little.
My coworkers don't want to evovled, improved nor anything. They just want to stay drunk, do drugs, stay on welfare, have kids whom after 15 years they can't afford and still have no diploma. They can't teach their anything. I can't imatgine beintg a kid doing homework and unable to ask a parent, "Who were teh 4 presidents who were killed?" I know that my coworkers are oblivious. Those idiots can't even tell you the King of Pop, Pince of Darkness, and Godfater of Soul: Michael Jackson, Ozzy Osborn & James Brown.
Where is this world going with people carrying the mentality that ignorance is a bliss? And get this: I have met people who have never heard of Rosa Parks.

It's true, there is much stupidity and lie and envy in this world, but the true intelligence is to handle your dissatisfaction in such a way that it doesn't become a problem to you.
On your second question, the only answer I can think of it that there are many idiots so that average people can exercise their understanding, empathy, kindness, logic and most of all their patience.

It has always been this way. Always. But don't think of it as a curse. Think of the other aspect of your reality...that you are an intelligent individual with great potential.
I encourage you to distance yourself from negative people, and begin focusing on what you can do to continue developing your strengths, and to create a better life for yourself. You see, life is amazingly challenging. The losers you speak of will find out this truth, and life will deal the appropriate consequences. Meanwhile, you'll be challenged too, so prepare youself to succeed, to prevail and achieve your goals and create a meaningful purpose for your life. Focus on doing work that gives you joy, having a family, learning throughout your life, and contributing to a better community. Associate with people who share your values.
Turn your life into a blessing, not a curse.

I am going to give you a very truthful answer. Please think about this and you will see how evident it really is...but first, no, having above average intelligence is not a curse.
Look at the adjectives that you used to describe these people...druggies, cheaters, abusers, moochers, mean people...then with that in mind , please read the following two scriptures:
1 John 5:19b: "but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one."
2 Timothy 3:1-4: " But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God,"
So that would pretty well describe who is in charge of this world system of things and then it hits the nail on the head as far as how the majority of people who make up this system of things act and behave. But check this out...it won't always be that way because we have this promise to look forward to:
Psalm 37:9-11: "For evildoers themselves will be cut off,
But those hoping in Jehovah (God) are the ones that will possess the earth. 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."

As long as you think that way about other people it will be a curse. You will need to learn to how to like people even when they don't understand you when you use words that fly right over their head. Better yet accept people for who they are get off of your high horse and use words the common everyday person can understand. Intelligent people can be mean, abusers, moochers druggies, cheaters, and liars.

Yes, I agree there are WAY too many idiots in the world. They are here to try our patience and make us better (more compassionate) people in the process. Maybe if minimum intelligence scores were required before a couple could have kids we wouldn't have as many of them... Oh wait, that's been tried before. :-)
