If you are qualified to build your own you really don't need plans. If you look at them, they aren't that complicated. I kow some people that made their own but it only saves money if you get parts for low cost or no cost. The big money items are motor (gas or electric), hydralic pump and valve control, large hydralic cylinder, The rest can be made with scrap metal. I just bought a nice used 20 ton for $400. Can't really build one for that.

I built one some years ago, once you find the motor the rest is easy. I found an 8 hp Briggs engine at a garage sale for $50 and the hydraulics I bought from Northern Tool & (northernTool.com)equipment. I used the 5 galon container of hydraulic fluid as the fluid resevoir. My first mistake was to use 6" wide 1/4 thick channel Iron for a frame. That bent the 1st use, find an I beam and have the blade welded on. I had an some old axle bearings from a trailer so I used that to put on trailer wheels so I could transport. The biggest problem I have is everyone wants to borrow it and not return it or they leave it at their house for 4-5 months and when I ask how they are doing with their wood pile they tell me they haven't gotten to it yet. So now I lend it out only to good friends and I drop it off and tell them what day I will be back to pick it up,done or not.

I went to a store that sold them and took some digital pictures. You can take them from every angle you want, the more pictures the better.
