I'm Libertarian. People find use nutty. But it is also because they aren't use to the idea. Libertarianism isn't that old at all compared to many of the other parties but it is the third biggest of them all. The big problem is that many claimed libertarians, don't vote libertarian. They vote for the lesser of two evils. I see the libertarian party as the lesser of three evils.
The major parties do what they can to drag us down. Democrats call us Republicans that smoke pot despite a good percentage of those who are part of the libertarian party don't, and Republicans call us Democrats that carry guns. It's as if the two major parties have gone to the point of childish name calling. They also do what they can to restrict any other party from getting publicity. It doesn't bother me though. We promote more social freedoms then the Democrats and more Economic freedom then the Republicans.
Many people are so use to the idea of government intervention that Libertarianism in a whole scares people. I think the most crap I get is from the Democrats, but Republicans arn't that far behind.
All Libertarians on a personnal level are different until it comes to are politics. They say that all Libertarians are Isolationists, but you could come to my house and piss on my door step and I could care less, but I respect another persons house.
Here are other myths about Libertarians that are simply not true: http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/rothbard12.html
The problem is that the two parties see us as a group and not as an individual.
Arn't you the guy who wanted to box cops? I'm still ready for a good street fight.
I don't have a clue where that is.
TD: One issue and you no longer support Libertarians? I'm sure you agree 100% with the Conservatives then right?
I live in Missouri, but I have family that lives in Orlando. Maybe one day when I visit.

Most people know nothing about politics. Those few that do think there are only two parties. That leaves a very small percentage of the population that even knows there is a Libertarian party, and an even smaller number that knows what they stand for.
The problem is also made worse by the fact that Libertarians are not allowed in debates. I hate new laws, but I think it should be a law that if you are officially on a ballot, then you need to be at all the debates. i think it's crap that the republicans and democrats keep other candidates out of debates so as to prevent the truth from getting out.
Vote Libertarian!

I am one. The party of people who have the ability to think logically and also have a heart.
What is wrong with the idea that everyone is free to do what they feel is in their own best interest, so long as not harming anyone else. It's our freedoms at stake.
P.S. The Hildebeast really scares me.
P.P.S. to TD - I am totally against open borders. Immigration is one issue that talking mouths of Libertarian party are way off base.

it is actual an exceedingly exciting question, on account which you could very hardly (if ever) get 2 or extra libertarians to agree on precisely what libertarianism is. It particularly relies upon one what different philosophies they carry expensive. some are professional-faith, on a similar time as others are complete atheists, and the two communities of folk will declare that their view on faith is the "authentic Libertarian perspective," on a similar time as telling you that the different team would not be attentive to what they're speaking approximately. individually, i visit reserve judgment on Libertarianism till sufficient of them can agree on precisely what it is.

im somewhat of a moderate libertarian, i usually root for the republicans though just because i know the libertarian party doesnt have a chance. i think the actual party itself is too extreme, stuff like legalizing drugs and reducing the military to the tiny levels they want it to be at just isnt smart. but i would like to see the budget cut quite a bit and greatly reduce social programs/aid, and convert whats left from the welfare handout system to a system to helping people get education/job training
