Since almost every president in recent history has had an attempt on his life, some attempts more dangerous than others, it would not be surprising if it happened also to Obama, in the longshot odds that he'd actually win the presidency.
Not necessarily because of racism, either, but simply because of the position.
And if you're looking to pin racism on any one party, do NOT forget about Democrats Robert "KKK Grand Kleagle" Byrd or George "Segregation Forever!" Wallace.

All of our Presidents have had Assassination attempts. It would be naive to think that the next President would be any different. In today's vitriolic atmosphere, I am surprised we don't have some guy in a Che Guevara shirt... I mean a Hillary 2008 Tee-shirt, taking pop shots at the President every week!

We just have to keep our fingers crossed that there is not. But if someone wants to do this, I don't think they will wait until he is elected president, as it will be more difficult; they will try if he looks like he has a chance of winning. What a state of affairs? it is a legitimate question.

I would not be surprised. I think shooting non combatants is wrong but it could happen.
Robert Kennedy was shot before the election
and the election was delayed as I recall.
But I was very young.

This country needs to grow up and realize that race is not an issue, and that women can also be president.
Only our media would shove fear into hope and redemtion. Was it really the jews who murdered jesus? or was it all of us? That is the question.
