It's pretty, although people will just shorten it to 'Jen', so think about whether you like that as a name!

It conjures up thoughts of an attractive damsel in flowing white robes and long black hair. A name that sends you back in time to the Knights of the Round Table, shiny armour and bundles of grapes (not sure why!). Anyway, I love the name, it has a certain charm about it and deserves to be used more. Much better than naming a child after a fruit or the place where they were conceived!

My daughter's name was almost Genevieve, but I let my family talk me out of it. I love the name! And there are many nickname possibilities!

The name Genevieve means Woman of the people; fair person.

I love this name, it is strong and beautiful.

Don't worry about people shortening it; if you don't allow it; it won't happen.

I love it!! It is so girly and pretty, but at the same time very sophisticated and elegant. My friend has twin girls named Gabriella and Genevieve, and they call her Jenna. You definitely can't go wrong with this one- it is a lovely name!!

It's one of my favorite French names (and I'm French). It offers the possibility of a nickname (Jen/Jenny/Vivi/Jojo etc)which is something else I like in a name, but you'll have to decide whether that is an option you like. Be careful of the pronounciations associatted with it. You may find yourself correcting people a lot. I like it pronounced Gen-vi-ev and not Ge-ne-vi-ev or Ge-ne-vive. It's a beautiful name. Good luck and pick what you love.

Different and a little old fashioned but quite nice. Poor child needs to be able to spell her name though... Does it go with your surname? If so, go for it!
