Yes, India is a very strong contender for winning the world cup as they have the best batting line-up in the world and a number of bowling options. The only problem is regarding their fielding, which is, though above average but not outstanding. Fitness problems are almost negligible now. On the other hand , other competent teams of the world like Australia , South Africa , England & New Zealand are stuck with several injury issues.
I think Dravid, Yuvraj, Dhoni & Agarkar would be the key players. Munaf also has the potential to do well, but his World Cup performance can't be predicted from his injury laden short cricketing career.

India has a fair chance at this edition of the World cup. It all depends upon them and upon the fact that whether they will perform to their potential. With the West Indian pitches on the slower side India has a realistic chance of reaching the Finals. My most important player would have to be Dhoni. This is his first world cup and he is set for bigger things in life and it does'nt get bigger than this. So in my opinion he will grab this chance and show the world why he is among the top batsmen in the world.

India is in the line for the World Cup
They have to believe in themselves and in the greatness of their Nation
The 16 players represent the hopes and aspirations of 10 million Indians
However fans of Team India must realise that there are also other 15 world class teams that have landed in the West Indies for business and not for holidaying.
India can reach the semis and the final. It may not be able to clear the final match if India meets Australia or Sri Lanka in the finals

India does not even have the remotest chance of making it to the finals of the world cup. It's only plus point is its batting strength. It lacks depth in bowling as well as fielding.

yes they do provided they have to play countries like yugoslavia, bosnia, finland, iceland and Mongolia.
Else they will get whipped if they have to play bangladesh, Nepal etc not to mention Pakistan or australia,
The most important player will be the one who comes in the most TV advertisements, because he will do something constructive like conning more people to buy more useless stuff and help the economy.

hi its a nice question.i feel india is having better chance in this world cup becoz they played in west indies few months later so they have better practise than others the only thing is to worry is that they have to just follow the killer instinct like kapil devs 1983 winner team.then every thing will happens.

Are they in it? I think not. The most important person is the goalie. A team can still score match points without scoring a goal, but without a goalie, you aren't going to get a shutout.

I think they have the potential. but sadly don't have a chance, because they lack the team spirit. As individuals, they are dynamites, but together, they diffuse victory.
