The ones with low self esteem would seem to be more destructive while the more happy people would cause more of a spectacle of sorts. I think they both could be bad depending on the circumstance.

High self esteem is comical and you can make light of it but to be around someone with low self esteem is depressing and brings the whole room down.

high self esteem is good unless you have an over-inflated ego and act suppier toward others, which just makes you a jerk
low self esteem is not good either unless you want improvement in self or life and plan on doing something about it. Complaining but not making any effort is quite annoying espeically when some feels a little self worth from efforts or blessings.
neither is good, if without just cause.

Low is worse. They're too busy worrying about themselves to have any fun or get anything done. They're pretty boring company too.
If you're actually asking about someone conceited vs. someone with low self esteem, I'd say the conceited person is worse. Those people tend to have their ears plugged and there's no straying from their self-image.

I've known of people with highly inflated egos that were pretty bad. Low
self esteem-maybe that is worse. There's nothing sadder than someone who
doesn't like themselves very much.
