I used to live in Redland Bay (the next suburb over)

There isn't really much to do in the area, you could visit Coochie Mudlo Island (the ferry leaves from Victoria Point), apparantly it has a nice beach.

Or take a trip into Cleveland on a Sunday for the markets. Ormiston House is close by at Wynnum. Otherwise I'd reccomend staying in Brisbane. It's really just a little suburb, not much of a tourist attraction

It has nice scenery. shops and cafes, the usual. a lot of outdoorsy stuff.

I recommend staying in Brisbane. Its a very nice clean city. With its own man made beach. It also has weekend markets that have many local artists. From there you can take day trips to the ocean.

Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
