Mark is correct. By default, WORD does not print the background color.

Can you put some additional details as to how you set the background colour. There are a few ways of accomplishing this which may effect the output. I'll edit this with more info if you do.

EDIT

Go to File, Print Setup, then the Paper Tab and Click on Print Options.

In the 'Include with Document' section tick 'Background colours and images'

p.s. This is Office XP,if you have an older version let me know....

When you use Format->Background and change the color it is only for on-line/web and e-mail. It will not print the background color for a physical page. I know this sounds simple but you need colored paper to accomplish the effect you want.

UPDATE - I just read Mark's solution. If you have an older version of Word use 'Page Setup' select the 'Paper' tab and open 'Print Options' and you will find a check box for 'Include Background Colors and Images'. This will take a long time to print, use lots of ink and the color will not expand all the way to the edge of the paper.

START - RUN - type services.msc and Enter

you see a Print Spooler icon- you must restart it

the Printer sometime acts like a nagging wife (don't mean it in a sexist way) and refuses to obey - you must use this option by default always

of course, at least you must have a color printer - and check the cartridge is full - this can be done by giving a random print command - if the page takes a helluva time to upload, it would show on your right hand status bar. Time to replace the cartridge

Good luck

This is more than likely a problem with your print settings in word, go to FIle>Print> then check through the settings to make sure that images/background will be printed

It may not answer your question but do you know the cost of printing with a blue background compared to a white one?

Make sure you have changed the printer options in both word and your printer are allowing for background colour printouts. These are seperate settings.
