The only advantage to a laptop is portability. If your going to leave your computer in the same place all the time, like on a desk, then a desktop would be a better choice. Because you'll get more for your money with a desktop.
Anything from Dell is good.

there is no such thing as a disadvantage of a laptop- honestly, unless of course you 'really' into your gaming, in this case a PC would be better for you needs. Go for a laptop made by HP rather than Dell,... i used to buy Dell laptops, however they are a constant pain in the ***, honestly, and their customer support is a joke- many of which have such strong Indian accents you can understand them once you do get connected. Go for that HP, trust me, you wont be disappointed.
