Start -> Run-> msconfig

You can do Start, then RUN, then type
msconfig
Then uncheck items in the Startup tab.

To find out what each Startup(or Process) item
does or means, and any recommendation as to if you should close the process:

Note : Restart the System for the Effective change in the GUI

for this you have to go on start menu and you can see Run.. over there.click on Run and type msconfig and hit enter. You will see a system configuration window opened up with several options.Click on startup button and disable items you don't want to startup at the time of log in.You'll se your HP printing program over there.Remove the checkmark and next time you start your computer it won't be there.

Hope this helps:)

HP usually loads a couple programs for thier printers so they start up automatically...they are a pain I know...two places to go...first go to start/all programs/startup..and see if it's there...if it is..right click and delete...if not...go to start/run/regedit...becareful...regedit is very dangerous to a layman...anything done in the registry which shouldn't be done can make your computer go haywire or not even start up at all...once your in the registry...go to the following hives...HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/ Run...on the right you will see all the services loaded at startup..there you will find the HP printer info that loads up at startup...just delete that value. Also check HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Run as well!

First step should be to check in the options for the program you don't
want to start and see if there is a setting to tell it not to run at
startup. The next step is to remove any entries you don't want from the
two startup folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

For anything else uncheck their entries in the startup tab of msconfig:
Start | Run | Msconfig | Ok

Another option is to remove the reference to them from one of these keys
in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Make sure you have a backup of the registry using a program like ERUNT
before making any changes to the registry.

you can go into START-Settings- Control panel- Ads/remove programs. Once there, if you see your printer listed, REMOVE IT.
