If they didn't ask you to come in with prepared material (i.e., a monologue), then they'll probably give you material to read when you arrive.

Wear your glasses if you need them to see. If not, then choose the "look" you prefer for them to see. Dress nicely, but wear clothes that enable you to move freely. If the people conducting the audition know what they're doing, they'll want to see how well you move as well as what you look/sound like.

Did "THEY" at least offer how long the audition or any monolgue should last?

Obviously they want something original, or at the very least NOT from the particular event you're auditioning for. I'll assume you know the genre.

First of all, even as silly and impossible as it may sound..."Relax." This isn't a battle you're going in to, it's a general situation that anyone trying to cast a company also has to endure...IE: American Idol Auditions.

Dress professionally but not over the top, no fright wigs or clown makeup (no offense, smiles)

ACT in a professional, respectful manner, and whatever you choose that might even vaguely relate to what part your trying out for, know it like you know your own name,,,spelled backwards. Obviously if your glasses are a part of your every day need IE: Being able to read, certainly you should wear them, however you really shouldn't "Read" for an audition.

The major focus for those you're being "judged" by, is to see you in a stage presence mode, and to understand your projection ability, your body language, neccesary gesturing, etc. The thought is to fit a part to a person and vice versa. If you can "engage" and "involve" a casting director, then it's very likely you can do the same with an audience no matter its size/numbers.

Finally; certainly what you choose to use for the purpose of "winning" is as personal as religious or political views, and you can only do the best you can do. Obviously it is a competition, but to close I suggest you don't take a possible rejection as a personal attack.

Expect the unexpected. Be yourself. Wear glasses if you need them. Be prepared to do whatever you are asked. Know your audition pieces inside out. You may be asked to do them in a different accent or while dancing round the room or standing on a chair. Know why you picked the audition pieces. Try to find contrasting pieces to do.Don't do two where the character is tearful or angry but try to do something which has changes of emotion for the character - audition panels get totally pissed off hearing the same pieces over and over. As for what to wear - wear something comfortable and warm- wear layers so you can take something off if the room is hot. Be properly warmed up before the audition and don't let the nerves get the better of you make them work for you. If you want to succeed as an actor you will need to be able to take rejection. If your audition is for a place at drama school or on a drama course at University - listen very carefully to what the audition panel say to you. I was advised to go away and spend a year at another college doing a basic course in drama and come back after that. I didn't take the advice and auditioned again the next year. One of the panel asked if I had done the basic course and I had to say no. She said "If you can't take good advice you'll never be an actor." Again I didn't get in. I went off for a year and did the basic drama course . Third audition -I got in. I was told that I could have saved a year. Graduated with BA 2(1) Honours.
Best of Luck!!!!

i went to an audition to go. usually they give you directions on how they expect you to dress. but if you dont know just wear something relatively formal. not like if your going to the prom but do wear something that makes you look serious and presentable. dont show too much skin if you decide to wear a skirt. actually dont show too much skin at all period. they'll most probably give you the script you need to read when you go to the audition. hope you land it!

p.s. as an aspiring actress, do you mind telling me how you are able to find auditions on your own? i would really appreciate it.

Dress nicely and appropriate. Make sure your hair is pulled back somewhat so that the judges may see your face. Present yourself by smiling and just be yourself. It helps that the judges she that you are relaxed, so don't be all stiff when you walk up.
If you get nervous don't look at anyone in the face. look at their ear or chin... to them it would still look like you are looking at their face. Make sure you know your audition piece really well. Become your character, think like your character would think. Do what you character would do.
Have a fun audition!

Definitely wear your glasses. Wear something comfortable I got a part in a play this week and I wore Jeans and a Hawaiian shirt. Don't act like an idiot. and they might have you cold read or improvise.

Expect them to want you to be yourself, and also to be willing and able to change the way you deliver the material. BE WILLING TO CHANGE! That's the msot important thing besides being relaxed. Act polite, but like you don't care.

Dress for the part not for your comfort. Bring a prepared monologue, headshot, resume.
