For the past 6 years I used a Canon inkjet printer which used 1 cartridge for each color. If one color ran out, I would only have to replace that color.

They no longer make this type of printer and I can't find one anywhere, ebay etc..

What printer won't empty my pockets paying for in?

Thanks for any help!

The ink isn't going to be cheap, regardless of which printer you get. You may be able to take your old cartridges to one of the places that refills them...much cheaper than new cartridges.

I heard on the news Kodak wants to make more expensive printers with cheaper ink but I don't think that has happened yet (sounds like a last gasp to stay in the image business)

I just bought a Lexmark 2400. My old one died and I just wanted to pick up a cheap new one. this one's great...it was only about 50 bucks and it uses only one ink cartridge that has both color and black ink in it..the replacement cartridges are only 20.00, which is a heck of a lot better than paying $30 or more apiece. It's a scanner/copier too.

Make sure it's one that has refillable cartridges. You can buy teh refiull ink fairly cheap on the internet, try ebay. Every few refills they need replaced entirely but ti sure does save to just refill.

i suggest u to try Canon - a lot better than other brands plus a very post-purchase maintainability cost - u would spend much lower bucks on inks comparing to others like HP or else
