My little sister scratched up my Sims 2 base game (the second disc). I need to reinstall the entire game on the main computer of my household but the second disc doesn't work properly. Can I get the disc buffed at Gamestop or EB games and have it working again or will I have to order a replacement disc from EA?

I'd first head to the games store and give the buffer a try. If that doesn't work, you could invest in a CD fixing kit, which contains a type of chemical that fills in the scratches on your CD. All the information present on a disc is actually on the reverse side of the top label, and the underside is simply a thick layer of clear plastic that acts to protect that information. So either buffing or using a fixing kit should do the job.

Good luck!

If the scratches are relatively minor, I would suggest getting some CD scratch removing solution, which they sell at computer stores. That might fix the problem. Otherwise, if the scratches are too deep, I'd head to the game store first then order replacements as a last resort.

If it's minor scratches, then definitely go to the gamestore.

But if it's really bad, then you have to buy a new game.
