For example :- Think of an Italian during Alexs' reign. Apart from a crappy goal keeper, who? Brazilians, Portugese and Spanish are also few and far between. I always had the impression he made his team from the United Kingdom. Oh and an amazing Frenchman. Don't get me wrong i am not saying the 'Boss' is racist, far from it. I have been a United fan since the late 70's. What Alex Ferguson has done has been amazing. His book makes an interesting read. It shows why he is so successful, so driven. Are the people he employs just clever purchases or what? What do you think?

I think that he hasn't been able to sign Italian or Spanish players (except Italian-American Giuseppe Rossi who is on loan in Italy) because they tend to stay in their own domestic leagues, with a few exceptions. Portuguese and Brazilian players also tend to migrate towards those two countries when looking to upgrade from their domestic teams. I'd like to see him tap the African market, after seeing players like Eto'o, Essien, and Drogba shine for Manchester's English and European rivals. I think that the base of any team should be homegrown... the core is still built around British players Scholes, Giggs, and Rooney, but I think that it is migrating to Cristiano Ronaldo (who, incidentally, is rumored to be going to Madrid or Barcelona in the summer)... also, the language barrier makes the transition easier... which is why some highly skilled Spanish-speaking players like Uruguayan Diego Forlan didn't make an impact with the Red Devils.

I expect a shift to occur in the next few years... Sir Alex has a good core, and maybe he needs to hunt around Europe, Africa, and South America for that next big player.

its SIR ALEX to you, and of all the different nationalities, England is and always will be the highest represented at UNITED. this in itself is worth an accolade for a Scotsman. what is the point of your question, a south African, a south Korean, a Uruguayan, a Brazilian, just proves he doesn't pick from the french league because they are available.
he buys a player that fits his style and if like beckham, veron, stam, ruud, your time is up, see-ya.
if you read the book, tell me about the Aberdeen team of the 80's.

I think we traditionally, for better or worse, have a tendancy to go for British players, then if not central european and so on.

You also have to look at our past signings. French players, for example, seem to settle in better at the club (and more generally the Premiership). Spaniards and South Americans coming to England haven't exactly got the highest success rate either.

Don't think he shows any bias based on nationality, he just goes for players that will fit in the system and have the right attitude (although he did buy Veron so that shows he doesnt mind buying the occasional rubbish player).

well, he does hav ONE chinese striker but will probably never touch the ball in a game, since they haav A.Smith, Ole Gunnar, Saha, and Rooney already top strikers. well, im not sure if he is avoiding certain nationalities, it may be a coincidence, or its just that he is a stereo type and thinks CERTAIN nationalities are better than others. but i wud like to say, some races do hav horrible skill, but hav SOME great talent...example...DROGBA

Veron, Forlán, Kléberson...he has lost faith in South Americans playing in the Premiership.

Your just being silly, he buys players that he thinks will make his team better, One word (Park) he's not english, why buy any where else if you dont need to, look at arsenal not 1 english man thats why they wont win anything this season, liverpool man united and chelsea all have good english players and thats how it should be.
