Different maths require different levels of thinking. IE your child can do good in algebra but not in geometry and calculus. Keep positive, never tell your child that they aren't good at it, that will only make them de worse.

I seldom recommend tutors or outside learning as they often teach your child a different technic for solving equations. You want your child to be on the same page as the rest of the class, to solve problems the same way they do, and get a good grade.

Best way to help: go over the way the teacher wants your child to solve the problem. Do additional homework and sample problems. Don't move ahead until your child understands the problem.

You can even ask the teacher for the HW teacher guide, as you might have forgotten how to do some of the problems since you were in school.

VERY IMPORTANT make sure your child writes clearly many mistakes come from simple writing errors.

I suggest you pressure your Congressman/ woman to allow school choice. Our government schools are an embarrassment that are failing our children. Competition will revolutionize our government schools because a failing teacher or school is done just like the real world. If you provide a valuable product (education) to the customer (the student) you win; if you're sending your child to government school shame on you.
