As human beings we strongly believe that we are capable of doing each and everything as our own. The basic ego grows along with the body from their birth. The ego is basically a natural gift to human beings to keep up individual dignity and not more than that. In certain stages the ego develops further to anger, quarrel to each other are explained as nature of animals.
These sabotage nature leads to certain critical circumstance and we falls in deep trouble where we will loose our confidence. Then for a small span of time we feel that there is no other way to get help or assistance.
the "only way is to remember god". It is explained in Upanishads that such circumstances are given to us as a gift that the almighty do appear in front of his devotee and bless him to overcome the situation he faces in his life

It is the supreme energy activating the world as well as individual events. No event in this world takes place without a cause.
We come across so many events either beneficial or detrimental to our progress. Some events do occur in our life leading to a belief that it has happened miraculously. So also when some events are so hard to solve with normal human capability, it is normal to expect a blessing from the supreme energy which have helped previously
It is natural that a baby cries when hungry.

Because we are selfish. We remember God during difficulties because we need help. If we are happy we do not remember God or close ones or relatives. It is human tendency. That is why to remember always God, we must have sorrows and difficulties.

We do tend to ignore God unless we are in some kind of trouble. I guess it's just one of our many human mistakes.

I guess because we (some of us) did not grow enough spiritually and we are not detached enough of the earthly things which come between us and God.
