It depends on if you are a minor. The same thing happened to me, I just had to pay a $250 fine and wasn't aloud back in the store for a year.

only 4.50 cripes you stole things amount doesn't matter .. enough people steal from stores and my costs for shopping goes up and I am paying for your five finger discounts ..you will probably get probation ,community service and pay the court costs plus the fine and stop stealing I am tied of paying higher prices because of shoplifters!!

Probably not much....but you say it's your first time as if you plan on making a career of it. Don't. And stealing is stealing....there's no 'only' about it.
Learn from this mistake.....let's be generous and act like it was a mistake.

youre gonna do some time.just kidding.youre probably gonna be on probation and do some community service or something.nothing big since its your first time.but if you get caught again then yea you might end up doin some time.i dont know.

$4.50 might not seem like much to you, however, it feeds my husband and i one home cooked meal. think about it in terms of what if you had much less than you obviously do. why do you steal? think about how you should be punished. as you consider your punishment, think of those who have very little or nothing to eat tonight.
