I have flown internationally since my kids were 2 months old (now they're 7 & 5)

For take-offs and landings, the best think you can do is if the 1 old is still nursing, make sure to nurse the baby. If the baby is not nursing, give him a bottle to drink (milk, water, juice - it doesn't matter) or a pacifier.

Baby formula is fine to take with you, and you are not limited to the amount you can bring aboard with you, do not worry. However, you may be asked to taste the formula by the TSA officers (usually this will only happen when you are exiting the country. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

Another trick is that if the baby is not taking to the pacifier or wanting to drink or nurse, gently rub the neck of the baby from the chin down to the chest several times - this will cause a swallowing motion which will help with the ears popping.

Make sure to pack plenty of things to entertain your child. A few of his favorite toys, books, and any comfort things such as a blankie. It's a long flight, so hopefully he'll sleep for most of it.

Pack a few instant hot/cold cereals, instant rice, and other just-add-water packets. The stewards/stewadess' will provide you with hot or cold water upon request.

Under FAA regulations, children are not required to have their own seat until they are two. The steward/stewardess should place you in a front seat where they can give you a crib to put your son once you have reached cruising altitude. However, this is not the safest way for a child to fly and the FAA does recomend them to have their own seat, but does not mandate it because of the cost to the parents.

If you want to buy him his own seat, then I suggest buying an FAA approved car seat to go along so that he can sit up correctly, and feel safer.

If I can be of any other help or assistance to you, feel free to contact me.

I hope that you have a happy vacation!

You should get a seat for him, I knwo that is expensive but yes it will be worth it.

Second, ask a doctor about this if there is something that you can give him to sleep a lot during the flight. Something that is made for babies and harmless. There are some hebs you can try but ask a dr first.

Good luck I know that is touch.

Will he no longer be eating cow's milk by skill of this time and could the airline no longer grant this? additionally, while you're combating over on the way, you could then fill up on materials for the subsequent leg of the form. a number of the time, he would be snoozing and could no longer pick feeding besides. discover out precisely what they advise by skill of a million day's grant and notice in case you are going to be able to use this for the great journey in case you could no longer fill up en course or in the event that they can't provide you some help. maximum super airlines grant nappies so probable ought to help with milk.

Yeah, I have a suggestion... but I don't think you'll like it.

Don't take your 1-year-old child on a flight.

The changes in air pressure, the confines, the turbulence, and not having a seat for him? That is a very poor environment for a child.

I would be very, very shocked if any airline will allow a "lap child" on an trans-atlantic flight. But even if they do, you would be doing your child and those around you a drastic disservice. Please think this through before you follow through.

Are you traveling from the US? ANY person, regardless of age is REQUIRED to have a seat on international flights.
