i've got this dull throat pain, not the scratchy kind, but the potentially annoying kind that usually ends you up on antibiotics in a few days. how can i nip this in the bud before it becomes a nuisance?

Orange juice is good. Take some Vitamin C supplements as well. Vitamin C helps fight infection. Also, gargle warm salt water with baking soda in it. The salt and the baking soda work as disinfecting agents for whatever bacteria might be beginning to live at the back of your throat. Hot tea is also good. Good luck!

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
