Hello I am CONSIDERING my boyfriend moving in with me. However, I am disabled, currently recovering from a chronic illness, and wondered what benefit will I lose. He is a freelance worker but he does earn full time by the time the year is out. I am on housing benefit, council tax benefit, income support and disability living allowance. Any advice appreciated, website links etc. too. Many Thanks

it really depends on how much he earns. You could lose all benefits except DLA, I believe you are entitled to that whatever happens.

Ther is a good chance of you losing some if not all of your housing benefit council tax benefit and much more. Ask the benefit office for advice have you got your boyfriend down as a carer you are entitled to a payment for this. Not much help i know but i tried.

You could lose all benefits as you will be treated as a cohabiting couple and just like a married couple he will be as responsible as you for paying for those facilities. If his earnings are sufficient then no benefits. But then if you do not then need these benefits why should you receive them?

No you won't lose all your benefit for letting your boyfriend move in. You will be reassessed for how much benefits you can receive though. If you do not notify them (benefits people) to inform them that your circumstances have changed and they find out you will get in lots of trouble.
