friendship means, a partner, someone who shares your inner most thoughts, will stand up for you when you need them to and even when you don't. Someone who no matter how far apart you are, thinks of you, (hence all those times your ears are ringing). A friend will not be scared to tell you the truth and know that you will still be friends after, and that person would never betray your heart, your love, your respect nor would that person ever leave your heart.

-there is complete honesty in a friendship

-there is understanding in a friendship

Friendship do not mean anything in itself unless you give your own meaning to it. A friend in need is a friend in deed. This thing is hard to do when its upon you to do something. So, In my openion and in today's world, you can expect understanding and loyalty only. If you get atleast these qualities you got a good friend.
