I would need something that can read PDF files, with a frontend, if possible that comes in de .deb package or available in the ubuntu edgy repo.

EDIT : Torsten, thanks for the answer, Pichi, I know google too...

I am closing the question, since I've investigated quite a lot, and open source OCR are not yet able to directly read PDF, you have to convert the file to another format first.

Have you tried to download "Foxit"? Foxit is a free PDF Reader (and PDF Creator) and you can also download PDF files with Foxit as well...Just enter Foxit on Google or Yahoo and then, you'll get to their download - also should work on Linux.
And the other great thing is that you can convert WORD/text files into PDF and back into WORD with "Foxit" as well. Good luck.
