Myles325 your logic is so wrong about Muslims. First of all, I'm a Muslim and I'm not uneducated. I graduated from high school with an advanced diploma and took college courses (AP). Currently, I'm a junior in college studying abroad in Germany. I will graduate next year and continue my studies in graduate school. Muslims are being educated. I know I can't be the only Muslim doing this.

um, I have never said that Muslims need education. And I'm curious Mr. atheist could you please cite a source for 40% of Christians living that the earth is 6000 years old. In fact I've never seen a source Christian or not that's claimed that the earth is only 6000 years old. Are you sure you don't mean mankind? So now you're asking a question about intelligence, and yet are proving that you lack it yourself. We throwing stones within your own glass house?

So I, as a Christian, am saying that you need an education.

Hmmm......
Odd that some Christians have replied to say they have NEVER seen a source saying that the world was created 6000 years ago. This date was worked out last century by some cleric using the geneologies in Genesis and Exedus et al. He got the figure of 4004 BC, almost exactly 6000 years ago now. That figure was accepted then, and is still accepted by fundamentalists, especially the Young Earth Fundamentalists. SOme of them think that you could stretch that 6000 years to 10, 000 but really no further.

Bibles printed in 1950s and prior clearly have written in the margin next to Genesis 1:1 "4004 BC". Scientists now estimatge the age of the Earth at around 4.4 BILLION years ago, and life beginning at around 3.8 BILLION years ago, with the creation of the Universe (the Big Bang) occuring around 13 BILLION years. These figures are so many orders of magnitude larger than those given by fundamentalists that there is just no hope for any kind of reconcilation.

Figures for Americans who do not believe in evolution seem to very rubbery. Some reports give it at just over 50%, others have it at 9%. I have a feeling that this is a result of how the question is phrased in surveys, but I will make that my own question.

Personally, I feel that Muslims "need an education" because they have huge rates for illiteracy, especially for women, with some Muslim nations in Africa having only 1 to 2% literate women. And because there seems to be no emphasis on research and development in Muslim countries, which, with about a one-sixth of the world's population have fewer Nobel prizewinners in the Sciences than does little Switzerland. And also because they lag behind in new inventions, with virtually no patents to speak of.

Partly this is a result of an educational system which depends on rote learning of the Koran to the exclusion of most everything else, and then which abruptly stops at about 12, there being no clear route to a secondary education, followed by college and University. For years, I used to hear about "eminent Muslim clerics" and "renowned Muslim scholars" and thought there must be a lot of brilliant minds out there. I was most surprised when I did some research on this and found that these geniuses were all just theologians expounding legal principles from the Koran.

Now don't be cranky with me. But if the Muslim wold insists on making a virtue out of being ignorant, bloodyminded and narrow, then it will simply revert to being a bunch of nomadic camel-herders when the oil runs out, which is in a matter of decades. My advice to you and your people: Stop blaming the West and the Jews for all your troubles, and join in the pursuit of knowledge. Take a break from murdering your fellow Muslims by the thousand and use some of that fabulous oil wealth to build research centres and universities, not racing camel farms and huge hotels. Stop treating your women like stubborn oxen to be beaten and hidden way in order to produce children. Look at the Chinese and other Asians. They have joined with the First World (Europe) and the Second World (America) on the path to becoming technological and cultural giants. While your mob clings to the medieval world of the 600s, mired in blood feuds, and without a decent monetary system or legal system.

There, that's why I think that Muslims are "uneducated". I know you are a proud people, and your pride is making you insanely jealous and resentful of the great cultural and scientifica successes of the West (and now East). Why don't you join in, instead of behaving like murderous rabble of thieves and liars. Don't you worry too much about some Christians believing that the world began 6000 years ago. That's not your problem. Those Christians put a man on the moon in 1969, and invented the Internet that you like to play around with today. Worry rather about where your people will be when the oil runs out, squandered by the mullahs and emirs and potentates who llive like hogs in clover in the flesh-pots of Europe. That's your problem.

Sorry, totally confused who said Muslims need education and in what?? As for the other part of your question, I have been a Christian for 30 years and have never heard this one. Did it come from a leaflet from one of those crazy sects?? I hope you find the answer you're looking for. God bless.

Listen, Einstein....NOBODY, (and that includes yourself) can know for certain exactly how old the Earth is, OK??

One thing I KNOW, is that I have an eternal soul who's eternal destiny needs to be decided on THIS side of the grave. So go ahead and argue all you want about things you'll never get an answer to....that's JUST what the devil's hoping he can distract you with. And then ONE day.....it will be too late to make that decision; you'll have waited TOO LATE!!!

When did i say Muslims need to be educated? Are you attempting to promote conflict between Christians and Muslims for your own atheistic entertainment? If so I hope you find better ways to have fun. Peace be with you.

Hi Naz. I am in my 30's and have lived in various states in America, and I have never heard of anyone believing that the earth is 6,000 years old. I do not know where you got your information, but it sounds as if someone only in your area or social circle believes this to be true.
Truth is, no one really knows. God's time is His time.

Where did you get that statistic? Do you really know that it is valid or do you merely BELIEVE that it is valid? Did you see the research? What methodology was used to gather the research? What was the sample population? Was it truly representative of the world population? Do you BELIEVE that the researchers really talked to that many people?

We ALL need education.

Muslims need to learn more about the Qu'ran and what it really says before taking it to the extreme, like those muslim terrorist. They should really see the part where it says "If you commit suicide, it's hellfire for you."

Christians need to learn more about other religion too, teaches us all to respect one another and about manners.

Basicly,

everyone needs proper education.

First, your question should be worded "why do you say" not "why do you said".

Remedial 3rd grade english, anyone?

Second, thanks for telling me what I think. Its readily apparent that you can read 40% of the people's minds to know this.

Common sense, anyone?
