it's understandable why your boyfriend would be angry.

he'll feel threatened and insecure.

generally speaking i think it's inappropriate to have 'special' friendships with members of the opposite sex when you're in a relationship. sure, you can maintain old friendships and keep in touch, but you shouldn't be establishing deep and meaningful relationships/friendships whilst you're in a romantic relationship with someone else.

often when these things start we try to deny what they really are, that we actually care for this new person and might perhaps prefer to be with them than our current partner. in which case we should stop living in denial, grow some backbone, and finish with our current partner out of respect and fairness - leaving us free to explore 'special' friendships with anyone we choose.

If I were the BF, I'd be angry. Your special friend should be your only BF and not any other guy. Guys tend to be jealous when their GF treat other guys special. You may want to check what special feelings have you got for that guy. Surely if you are in love with your BF, you wouldn't have developed any special feelings for other guys.

What is a special friend? Sounds too 'special' if you ask me. Your bf should be your special friend...you can be friends with the other guy but not to the extent that he knows more about you then your bf...then there is not point hanging onto the bf...he should be special!

Possibly
If you are spending more time or flirt with this special friend than your bf then he has every right to be angry.

Of course he can. The boyfriend is INSECURE and no one can live with JUST 1 person in their life. They have to have friends and also some time alone. Who wants to live with someone breathing down their back all the time. You should know what to do now as this answer will tell you. If your boyfriend wants someone to control and keep under his thumb, tell him to get a Dog and put it on a leash.

if i were your boyfriend i wouldnt put with it. to tell you the truth i dont put up with any guy friends at all. i know i dont have any "girl" friends because i know that if i ever did then i would secretly be wanting to hook up with them. i just think a friendship between men and women is not possible. buh. besides your boyfriend SHOULD be your special friend.

Your BF is understandably harm once you defined your emotions for yet another guy as "particular". you would be able to desire to guarantee him that there is a distinction between the emotions of affection you have on your BF and the emotions you have for the different person as a pal.

Yes he can be your friend but make sure you spend quality time with your boyfriend. Your boyfriend should be your first "special" friend.
