To start with, you need help to CHOOSE one of the quotations, or you need help with the CHOICE of a quotation.(Just a couple of points to help you.)

I think I'd go for no.2 as it is very easy to understand and there should be plenty of examples of people trying to imitate others, stealing other peoples ideas and trying to take the credit for other peoples' work.
It simply means that to be truly great you must be original in some way. You will not reach greatness by doing what has already been done.
You must be committed to a course or action of your own accord.

OK these are all great quotes from Dr. Samuel Johnson.

1) "Every man wishes to be wise, and they who cannot be wise are almost always cunning."
(This quote is about Wisdom, Quality, and Craftiness... I personally would stay away from this one and choose one of the other two)

2)"No man ever yet became great by imitation."
The whole quote is actually ""No man ever yet became great by imitation. Whatever hopes for the veneration of mankind must have invention in the design or the execution; either the effect must itself be new, or the means by which it is produced. Either truths hitherto unknown must be discovered, or those which are already known enforced by stronger evidence, facilitated by clearer method, or elucidated by brighter illustrations."
I like this quote. It's about one needing to be inovative and come up with unique ideas. I think it's easy to find examples of copy cat type people and also find examples of people who became famous by coming up with one-of-a-kind creative ideas.

3) "It is better to suffer wrong than to do it, and happier to be sometimes cheated than not to trust."
Personally my favorite of the three quotes. It doesn't lend itself to a paper as easy as the second one but it still can be done. This quote is all about being a good trusting person. It acknowledges that there are some bad people and things in the world but it is better not to sink to there level or to live in fear.

Hopefully that helps... good luck on your paper.
