Statutory rape is a possibility. Your friend, or yourself is best to call your local police station (NOT 911) and ask to speak with a police officer. They can then clarify for you what your friend should do, and whether her relationship is in fact illegal.
She should also go and see a doctor ASAP, or do a pregnancy test to ascertain if she is indeed pregnant. If she is not pregnant, she should thank her lucky stars, because her and her boyfriend will have a very hard time of it. Having children without family support is very hard. I hope that her family will be supportive of her if she is pregnant, a womans life changes dramatically when children come along....I hope that both her and her boyfriend are ready for a life long commitment to a child if she is expecting.

Is he's under the age of consent then yes, legally she raped him and could/should go to prison. A comment for 'iona' - if she broke the law by having sex with a minor then she should be punished, I dont understand why some people think its ok for women to break this law but not ok for men. Its a law - its there to protect people regardless of their sex. So you think she should be allowed to make a mistake? What if it was a man of 22 shagging a girl of 17? Would you think 'ah well, it was just a mistake' ?!
She should get a pregnancy test either way and most importantly - wear a condom. If she's too dumb to make her partner wear a rubber then she's too dumb to be having sex!

or if the adult that is 24 years of age or older is married to the minor,"

You mean statutory rape? I think it might be, depends on the law. Sorry, but I live on the other side of the world and do not know the law of that state. Tell your friend that she needs to confirm whether or not she is pregnant before sweating about everything else. Who knows, she might not be.

Sorry i don't know the law in Florida i live in Australia. But i would just like to say that it takes two to make a baby, so i don't think that it would be fair to blame just her.

his parents can't really file a report against your friend unless they have proof or he says or she says that it was rape and one of them felt obligated. Best of luck to your friend
