Chakra meditation is a sub-set of Kundalini Yoga.
some people just go for chakra meditation and leave kundalini untouched.
Chakra meditation is a pre-requisite to awaken the kundalini
Chakra med... can be done without any harm... whereas kundalini awakening without proper guru can be very dangerous.
Guru...hmm it is very difficult.. you can try but i m not sure we can get so easily now a days

to the latter question, yes. The 'normal' western school of chakra meditations tends to be much calmer an exercise than that of Kundalini... KY (hehe) is a spiritual lubricant...
