Allah literally is a conjugation of two Arabic words AL (the) and ILAH (god, any god). Thus Allah literally means The God or The One God. Christians who are of an arab ethnicity all refer to God as Allah in their local languages, just as Christians, Muslims or Jews in America refer to "God" as the ONE CREATOR.
The foundation of monotheism is in the Unity of the Lord Almighty, whatever name you call him. Water by any name is still water, whether you call it aqua, aab, pani, moya or by other names in different languages. However water exists in many conditions. A person who has never been to an Ocean may only know water as a river flowing through his local area. One who has not even seen a river may know the water in his well or the rain alone or some lake in the vicinity. People in the same way have different understanding of the larger entity of the MOST HIGH based on their own personal experiences.
Monotheism however is the unifying force that can some day unite Mankind and really the universe into a single understanding. If you are a monotheist, you intrinsically know deep within you that YOUR GOD (whatever specific name you may refer to Him) is the creator of everyone including the animals.
If you love Rembrandt and respect his paintings, would you imagine burning any of his paintings? Similarly if one truly imbibes monotheism into one's hear and soul, one can not really ever hurt another human being or for that matter an animal except within the limits of the laws prescribed by the Almighty Lord based on his natural laws.
I hope this makes sense.

Allah is the Arabic language word for "God." However, it should be noted that the word literally means "The One to be worshipped"[1][2]. It is best known in the West for its use in the Muslim holy book, the Qur'an, which is an Arabic work. However, the word is the common term for God used by all Arabic speakers, whatever their religion, including Arab Christians and Jews. Consequently, the word is used in Arabic translations of Tanakh and the Gospels, as well as in Indonesian and old Turkish translations of the Bible. Arabic speakers of all faiths use the word "Allah" to mean "God".
In Islam, Allah is the One and Only God (without any partner) 112:1, the supreme Creator, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as well as of Jesus and Muhammad. Islamic scholars often translate "Allāh" directly into English as "God." This is consistent with the word's etymological derivation (see Etymology below). However, some scholars infer that "Allāh" should not be translated, arguing that "Allāh" is a special and glorified term whose use should be preserved. This is a significant issue when translating the Qur'an.
According to F. E. Peters, "The Qur'an insists, Muslims believe, and historians affirm that Muhammad and his followers worship the same God as the Jews. 29:46 The Quran's Allah is the same Creator God who covenanted with Abraham". Peters states that the Qur'an portrays Allah as both more powerful and more remote than Yahweh, and as a universal deity, unlike Yahweh who closely follows Israelites.[3]
The Bahá'í Faith, whose scriptures are primarily written in Arabic and Persian, also uses Allāh to mean God, though typical practice is to use the customary word for God in the language being spoken.
According to the tradition of Islam there are 99 Names of God. They are synonyms that appear in the Qur'an.[4]

I'm led to understand that Allah is merely the Arabic word for God. In French it's Dieu, Dios in Spanish, etc. What is important is that you believe that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ Whose atoning death takes away the sin of the world. Muhammad's religion denies people of this salvation by rejecting Christ's identity as the Way, the Truth and the Life and most importantly, The Word, Who, in the beginning, was with God and was God and became flesh and dwelt among us.

No. Allah is not God.
Allah claims to be God, but he falls far short of what God can do. For instance, God is Love, God is Truth, God loves us so much that He gave His Life for us, God came to us as His Son Jesus, God is Life, and on it goes.
Allah is NONE of those things. In fact, Allah cannot even do most of these things, and is even the opposite of some of them. It is safe to say that when Allah claims that he is the Creator, that he has no idea of what he is even talking about, let alone does he have anywhere near powerful enough to create even one thing!
But, that is what he is good at, as Allah says, he is the greatest deceiver. Hey, that's the Christian's definition for satan, isn't it? You know, the one who wants to be God, but can't pull it off, and who goes around deceiving everyone? Coincidence?
Allah created nothing but chaos, lies, and terror. I don't want that kind of god.

Allah is the exact same thing as God.
And also, to Shawn D:
How is Allah not God? What proof do you have that Allah is "chaos, lies, and destruction"? I've noticed that, while you have plenty of commentary, you don't have a SINGLE example. Sorry, hope I haven't offended you.

God is only one if there is any.
Like water is called by different name in different places in the world, god is also called by different name by different community. In Urdu (Muslim language) water is called as PANI. When Pani and water do not taste different how come God and Allah will be different ?!!
Our mankind was living in this world even before any of our religion was created. Mankind is thousands and thousands years older and any of our religion. Neither Jesus nor Mohammed created man kind. We are living here as creation of god, only one god.
The first reply from Mark should be modified as -
One God, Many planets, Billions people, Trillions of creatures.

Mr. Nazi , if you hate Christianity that is your choice, but it would be more honest if you just said so. Pretty Girl, I am not really sure what you are asking, but I think that God would be happy with both Christians and Muslims if we chose to spread peace in His name rather than fight over who loves Him most. Peace be with you.
