it all depends on what you watch,

if you like sport, action movies and games console go for plasma, as lcd has " lagging "

You you just watch normal tv, then lcd as it has a slight better defin.

plasma will give you better brightness, contrast ratio, and yes anything from 30,000-60,000 viewing hours ( thats the gas inside, so a bit of urban myth about short life span )

Panasonic did a survey recently and asked joe public the same thing, out came the results everyone went for lcd, then they where showed lcd next to plasma and asked what was better, and guess what PLASMA WAS 60%.

But it is all down to YOU.

They are also 1080 plasmas out at the moment the hitachi 9700 model.

Hope this clears up a few things wg

Up to 46" lcd are far better. Above this some people say plasma have a very slight edge. If you intend gaming on it avoid plasma. The best on the market at present is the Sony Bravia range.

I just bought a 42" plasma for just over a grand to put in my living room and it is the best picture quality you could ask for. The 37" LCD is now in the bedroom. I have next-gen video games hooked up to both and they are both great, however if you want true 1080p resoltion on your games and blue ray/hd dvd you will have to go with LCD as Plasma doesn't yet support 1080p. Plasma is still brighter, thinner and looks much cooler than LCD if you have the extra bread.

To be honest... I work for an electrical retailer, and half the staff have plasmas and the other half have LCDs. It's really personal preference.

In my opinion: HD-Ready plasmas have a slightly better picture when the screen is over 42", but that's offset by the fact that plasmas are more expensive, don't last as long, are more easily damaged and are rubbish for gaming.

Lcd lasts longer. Most people go for the Plasma screens because of the look. If you are looking to buy a tv to go with an ego, go for the plasma. If you are looking to buy long term and dont have a pocket bulging from unspent money, the go Lcd. Any way LCD is safer too.

The Gadget show on C5 had a sticky bun fight between LCD and plasma TV's. No clear winner but they "leaned" towards LCD.

Like the guy above me said.

Personal Preference.

Both ( Depending on Quality units) have the same lifespan.

Plasmas need to be handled better because you can crack the screen, same with LCD. Both need to be handled with care.

What are the good brands?
Sony
Toshiba
Mitsubishi
Pioneer Elite
Hitachi
Panasonic
anything else is junk.

LSD is the best, although it can cause mega hallucinations, PCP is serious stuff but it flies you HIGH, THC is nasty and can cause Lung issues, EX makes you dehydrated, so COKE, well, that stuff is the BEST, especially with a cherry in it served on ice...
