Since it's a first date your goal should be trying to get to know your date better. With that in mind, you want to go somewhere where you can talk with little interruptions. For something not too expensive, how about grabbing some coffee or ice cream? If you're looking for something a little more exciting, why not try bowling or billiards...at least those are indoors. Regardless of where you decide to go, make sure it's not too loud.

Anything that's fun is always a good idea. This way you get to know the girl on a completely different and REAL level. Not to mention that if for some reason you and the girl aren't completely hitting it off romantically, you'll at least still be able to have fun and maybe becoming the best of friends.
Go rock climbing, amusement parks, bowling, water parks, miniature golf, a pottery painting store where you pick the pottery and then paint it yourself... anything active and fun! Even though we all would love to imagine our prince or princess being with us on this magical first date, the reality is... it's a FIRST date! Why not be real? By setting this "standard" that it has to be romantic and whatnot will only limit the activities and conversation. You'll have to worry about the right and wrong things to say and when to and when not to say them, etc. A fun first date will allow things to happen just like they would on a "romantic" date but will also allow for more natural interactions.
Good luck!

There are nice desert cafes out there and ones that are open late fire places etc .
Go and see a band play or the local theatre.
Go to the beach for a late night picnic and a stroll. most of all have a good time , hope this helps.

I think a picnic under the stars either along the beach, in a garden, alongside a peaceful lake or out in the countryside is perfect for a first date :-)

I personally prefer an activity like golf, bowling etc. When you go to the movies there's no talking so that's dumb and frankly I find dinner too romantic for a first date.

Why don't you take her bowling, mini golf, something fun and then somewhere quite cause usually girls like to find out more about the guy and although the walk on the beach has been totally maxed it still works man. good luck

Take her to a restuarant. It always works. You can organise a romantic picnic under the stars as well. If you like dancing, go dancing. Good luck!!

I would suggest a nice dinner and a movie so you can get to know each other and not be so nervous.
