can somebody please tell me what the means and what it entails? the situation is that 2 people who have a son are seperated and now the mother of the child has remarried. does the father have to agree to this or not and what rights would the husband of the childs mother have over the child?

thanks!

sorry, by saying does the father have to agree to this i don't mean agree to the mother remarrying.

what i mean is does the father of the child have to agree to a step parental agreement or can he reject it?

are you uk? the mother can marry who she wants and of course doesnt need the fathers permission. the father retains parental rights for the child, the step father only gets these if he adopts the child which he cannot do without the fathers consent. the step father has no rights over the child.

First of all, the mother does not require permission to get married. In most circumstances the stepfather would have no legal rights over the child but could add the child onto his medical/dental insurance etc.

Not sure legally but I would assume it depends on whether the mum has sole custody or shared with father although I am sure the father cant stop mother remarrying.

A step-father would only have any rights if his wife allows him to.
