For about three days now I have had a migraine. I've been taking some aspirin, and that only works for a few hours before it comes back. It hurts mostly around and behind my eyes. I'm thinking it might be caused by me not sleeping a full night. Though I don't know how only sleeping a few hours in one night can cause a migraine that doesn't go away. I mean I think I would of caught up on sleep by now.

My aunt thinks I should get my eyes checked, but I see fine. So that couldn't be it, could it? Anywho...

What could cause a migraine that doesn't want to leave and how can I get rid of it?

Have you been diagnosed with Migraines? I was recently diagnosed as having severe migraine headache due to stress and I have been suffering since the beginning of February. They can be very painful and debilitating. Migraines are usually concentrated in one area. Light and noise sensitivity accompanies mine. Rest is the only thing that helps along with medication. I suffered with them when I was younger as well. Each time I've had a migraine it was related to stress in some way. To answer your question, STRESS can cause a migraine that doesn't want to leave until you get rid of the stress factor. I have been released from work indefinitely (working 2 jobs, 7 days a week). My experience with headaches especially around my eyes has been sinus infections. My suggestion is go to a doctor if you have not already been, have them check for sinus problems even if you have never suffered with them before. Sinus headaches can keep you awake at night as well. When I first found out I had sinus problems I woke with a headache and earache that would not go away. I could only sleep for a few hours and the pain would wake me. The headache was around my eyes and nose. Up to that point I had never had sinus problems so I didn't know what it was. Until you can see a doctor, try some over the counter sinus headache medication and see if it helps. Good luck in finding your solution.

Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas (natural muscle relaxers) daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure (that works most times) - start with a professional massage, (if this does not do it you probably need a chiropractor as well) you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. Press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

1) Drink more water. If you don't like to drink water, this will be your answer. If you blood is too thick, you will find yourself having frequent headaches. Drink plain water. Soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee and tea are not counted

2) Do yoga. There are 2 yoga exercise that cure my headache. If you want them, I can send you the details with photos from books.

3) Go for a run. Run as fast as you can until your face is red. This helps headaches and migraine especially tension headaches.

I found myself in the same predicament about 3 years ago, absolutely destroying my live! I found myself in the neurologist's office, got checkout thoroughly, had the head MRI'd, checked out otherwise, am now on Topomax. Topomax takes a bit of getting to used to but is waay worth it. My migraines are gone! Plain and simple, other alternatives too, see a neurologist!

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

The best solution to that is to get a nap once you feel sleepy. Then as much as possible, try to sleep early. SLEEP IS THE BEST SOLUTION to your problem as of now.
