You know this is a good subject. It happened to be that I was watching a show on dogs a while back and a owner who owned four dogs. These dogs were perfectly fit and healthy depsite their excorsize (lots of excorsize dogs need it as much as we do). Anyway, while I was watching this show I noticed that the lady was feeding her dogs a diet of chicken hearts, turkey hearts, ground beef (raw) and many other foods like this in a sort of mix.

Anyway as I was saying before, I do beleive this might be a beneficial and very natural diet for a dog that I have found. Give it a try, see what the dogs do oh and by the way Lol with such a good meal every day and night, you can make your dog think that he is spoiled.

You may also want to see a veterarian to see if there is any medicines to get the dog's ears back to normal. (my dog went through this, and we ended up with a cream that you insert within the ear canal, and rub vigorously twice daily. Low and behold it worked!!!

Feeding BARF (bones and raw foods) is the best natural diet a dog can have, this is what dogs eat in the wild. Type in BARF and search the web.
Its very easy to feed you just need a big freezer to store it and remember to get the meat out to thaw. It has been proven that this diet is excellent for dogs (and cats) no need to cook the meat. Dogs digestive systems can easily deal with the raw meat. Its also very good for dogs who are really excitable as manufactured foods have loads of additives etc a bit like feeding kids artificial colourings and additives it sends them crazy, loads of dog food brands do this to dogs.

the raw diet is a good diet, i feed mine the raw and they thrive on it. BUT............ you need to do the reseaech on this diet before deciding to feed it. It is called the barf diet(biologically appropriate raw food)

There are some really good all natural foods on the market. You will not find them at the grocery store or the vets office but you can find some at petco and etc.

wellness, solid gold, california natural, dick van pattens formula, and innova evo are some fantastic foods without all the junk and fillers in them.
These foods are more expensive, but in the long run you feed less and they poop less.

I would have the dogs ear checked out by a vet because ear infections need antibiotics. Food allergies are a big factor in ear infections in dogs so is yeast infections in the ear. Clean the ear with a white vinegar and water solution, then dry the ear really good. white vinegar is good for yeast infections, but take the dog to the vet.

These days most pet food manufacturers spend a lot of money on research and development to produce modern day pet foods. Irrespective of which commercial food you use, you can be assured that it represents a completely balanced diet for the dog at that age. In the past a natural diet normally comprised of butchers scraps supplemented with meal. In most cases, these scraps are no longer available for sale because of hygene concerns. It is therefore very difficult to feed your dog a natural diet.

Please see your vet as well if your dog has a bad ear infection. Your vet can also advise you on a natural diet.

Fresh raw meat and bones are as near natural as you could get. It would be very expensive though, depending on the size of your dog. Don't feed a vegetarian diet, but some cereal and veg would be good.

I wouldn't worry about feeding a 'natural' diet; what you really need to learn about is good nutrition and what dogs need for a healthy balanced diet.
Changing their food upsets the bacteria that live in their digestive system, so causes stomach upsets. So before you switch (if you decide to) make sure you've done your homework, and make the change gradually over two weeks. You gradually introduce the new food and cut down the old.
If the dog food you use seems to suit your dog; if he has a healthy coat and skin, has plenty of energy and looks healthy - then stick with it!
Basically use the best quality dog food your budget allows. Meat, cereal (but not corn/sweetcorn/maize) and vegetables (carrots and cabbage/spinach) suits most dogs and these should be the ingrediants in the dog food you buy.

An ear infection can be caused by a bad tooth on the same side as the bad ear so get him checked out by the vet, and make sure you use the ear drops from the vet til its completely cleared up.
The stuff from the pet shop and home remedies are a waste of time and money.

RAW/BARF is the most species appropriate diet for dogs . Ear infections are a common sign of food allergies. If you cannot feed RAW,feed one of the grainless kibbles offered by Timberwolf Organics,Solid Gold or Innova.

Rabbit or any raw meat, is the natural food for dogs.Wild dogs don't get a can of dog food. You could give your dog veg, now that would keep him healthy

I feed my dog with Burns dog food - its 100% natural and holistic.

My dog has a gluten and rice allergy, and Burns do a Pork and Potato variety which agrees with him. I've tried nearly all dog foods on the market and this one is very good!
