The trial of an entire family of nine for the September “honor” execution of Ghazala Khan (18) ended today.

The trial marks a turning point in Danish judicial history. It sets a precedent and there will be no turning back. Until now contemporary jurisprudence would imply that the killer (executioner) is the one to blame and accordingly face punishment. But as from today not only the man who actually pulls the trigger, but his family and friends as well are held responsible and must face the consequences of their barbaric deeds.

The jury deliberated for about 20 hours and the verdict was very clear: All defendants were found guilty of premeditated murder as charged. They will face anything from 3 years to life in prison. Sentences can be appealed to the Supreme Court, but the verdict stands.

The judge had to warn the Muslim audience that he would not tolerate intimidation. Members of the jury were threatened, witnesses openly feared acts of violence from the Muslim community.

Only Muslims kill family members for preserving family honor.

The Quran may or may not mandate this, but the Hadiths certainly command the faithful to preserve "family honor" in this manner, despite the fact that the Western mentality abhors such murders.

Here are three of the many Hadiths:

Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 2. pg 1009; and Sahih Muslim Vol 2. pg 65:

Hadhrat Abdullah ibne Abbaas (Radiallahu Anhu) narrates the lecture that Hadhrat Umar (Radiallaahu Anhu) delivered whilst sitting on the pulpit of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). Hadhrat Umar (Radiallahu Anhu) said, "Verily, Allah sent Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) with the truth, and revealed the Quran upon him. The verse regarding the stoning of the adulterer/ess was from amongst the verse revealed (in the Quraan). We read it, secured it and understood it. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) stoned and we stoned after him. I fear that with the passage of time a person might say, 'We do not find mention of stoning in the Book of Allah and thereby go astray by leaving out an obligation revealed by Allah. Verily, the stoning of a adulterer/ress is found in the Quraan and is the truth, if the witnesses are met or there is a pregnancy or confession."

Sahi Muslim No. 4206:
"A woman came to the prophet and asked for purification by seeking punishment. He told her to go away and seek God's forgiveness. She persisted four times and admitted she was pregnant. He told her to wait until she had given birth. Then he said that the Muslim community should wait until she had weaned her child. When the day arrived for the child to take solid food, Muhammad handed the child over to the community. And when he had given command over her and she was put in a hole up to her breast, he ordered the people to stone her. Khalid b. al-Walid came forward with a stone which he threw at her head, and when the blood spurted on her face he cursed her."

Sahi Buchari: 8:6814:
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari: "A man from the tribe of Bani Aslam came to Allah's Messenger [Muhammad] and informed him that he had committed illegal sexual intercourse; and he bore witness four times against himself. Allah's Messenger ordered him to be stoned to death as he was a married person."

Hi. Quite simply there is no honor here. There is no part of Islam that supports the actions against this woman. May Allah(swt) give her the highest level of Jannah- Ameen. If a family non Muslim or Muslim wants to honor a woman who has become the victim of such a crime the best way to do it is: 1. Find the criminal and punish them- not the victim 2. Help the victim- counseling etc.. so the victim can heal and move forward in their life 3. Understand its not the victims fault. There is never a reason where sexual assault or any type of crime is ok or should be supported. I asked my Imam once how Islam defines honor within the Quran and Hadith- he could give me no answers. In cases like this it leaves me wondering and seeking the guidance and protection of Allah(swt).

I believe the barbaric Muslims do this deed. They do many horrific deeds in the name of Jihad or Allah. It's amazing!!! Any religion is such a farce. It's all make believe.

The reality is that there is nothingness, absolute complete nothingness when you die. You are a piece of meat, just like a horse or a cow or a squirrel. When you die, that's it buddy. You rot away just like that horse or cow does.

You don't remember anything BEFORE you were born do you? Because you didn't exist then, that's why. And you won't remember ANYTHING after your death because at that time, you will cease to exist.

People make up religion because they cannot accept this fact. It is very terrible, which I admit, so they make this stuff up to provide a mental crutch that helps their state of mind while they live their short lives.

I have heard of Muslim families in Saudi Arabia (and the like) that killed family members for "dishonoring the family". Usually the victim had done something like convert to Christianity, or marry without their parent's permission, or had an adulterous liason. The victims are usually female, but a few men have been known to be executed also.

I do not believe, however, that this is a requirement of their religion. Probably one of culture. The whole idea of "family honor" is an Eastern concept, found in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, etc. For the sake of "honor", men have flown their planes into ships (kamikazi), killed relatives, disavowed those they could not kill, and murdered teachers (who passed out failing grades).

It is this concept of honor that we Westerners find strange. It is related to "respect", something also endangered in the West. Not something any of us would usually consider killing for, but then, we have grown cold to the concept.

Honor killing is practiced in many parts of the Muslim world. This blood thirsty oppression of women has no place in the modern world. Islam needs a serious reformation.

The only religion that I know of that encourages family-honor killings is Islam.

"Honor killing" as practiced by certain Muslim communities is NOT the teaching of Islam. It does not represent the sentiment of the Islamic majority. The sharia law according to the Holy Qur'an has clearly spelled out the punishments for each "crime" and honor killing for anyone who refuse to bow to his/her parents wish for future spouse is not one of them. (that is most of the case or so I heard) Pardon me if I'm wrong. May Allah guide me to the right path, ameen.
