I am not one that can follow a recipe, only because every cookbook you look at has some bull-crap stuff in it..I have just learned by trail and err...Get yourself a crock-pot this has helped me alot. I remember my grandmother saying " food tastes better when it's cooked slow" she was right.

There are some really simple and economical recipes at the website below. They are step by step and some of the recipes even though they taste amazing require little cooking. I've recommended the site to many a yahoo user and have gotten quite nice replies. Give it a shot! It's not difficult to cook, you'll see.
Start out with a recipe like the Cucumber salad found in the appetizer section. Very tasty.....Super Duper easy.
Or the mashed potato cauliflower along with portobellow spinach....make this for anyone and they'll be sure you are a master chef
Once you get started and see what your own hands can create you'll wonder what kept you from cooking so long.
Hope this helps! Happy Cooking!

First of all don't think you're all alone. There are many people out there who don't know how to cook. I used to be one of them! What you need to know are the basics and from there you can pick up recipes and work with them until you feel as if you know enough to start experimenting. You can do it!! I am now a great cook. I never would have believed that I could cook. I didn't even know how to boil an egg. BTW, to boil an egg, you must place the egg in cold water in a small pot that has a lid. Add salt to the water (this keeps the shell from cracking) bring the water to a boil, turn off the heat, cover and allow the egg to sit in the hot water for 6 - 8 minutes (depending on how well you like your egg cooked). Also, after peeling the egg, rinse under cold water to remove the small shell pieces. Now that you know how to boil an egg, you can now make several dishes like a salad, tuna salad sandwiches, egg sandwiches etc.
There are several ways to learn how to cook. If you have a neighbor who loves to cook (or a grandmother or other relative or friend) try to spend several times a week at their house cooking alongside them. You'll learn a lot from hands-on cooking. Also, you could buy a self-help book such as "Cooking for Dummies" (no offense but there are a lot of "Dummies" books out there). There's also a couple of good books with simple recipes in them that could be helpful, "Where's Mom Now that I Need Her" and "A Man, A Can and A Plan". The latter one being extremely easy for starting out. It shows you pictures of each item you need, plus explains step by step how to put it all together.
Don't give up! You'll do great, I'm sure!!

Start out with simple stuff. I'm sure you are capable of making a sandwich and microwaving food, that's a start, you ARE cooking in a sense when you do that, don't discredit yourself. Some simple things you can do to sharpen up and improve your skills would be to fry an egg, that's easy, or make some pasta or rice, then buy some pasta sauce, heat that up and combine the rice or pasta with the sauce, put some shredded cheese into it and you're done. Then try some baked dishes or a caserole. To many people cooking is fun! You just need to explore the 'net for recipies or buy a cookcook, I still enjoy cracking open a cookbook to find something interesting. You'll need to buy some basic, cheap utensils, pot, pans and measuring tools (cups and measuring spoons). Be ready to read recipes and if there are ingredients you need, you'll need to run to the store. Don't be discouraged if you need to buy some kind of spice, those will last you for awhile. It'll seem expensive at first, but many of the things you need to buy will last you a long time.

I could barely boil water when I moved out of the house. Now I cook good enough that my ex husband brags to my fiance about how well I cook. Just get the boxed food to start with and follow those recipes. Even the box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese and Kraft Deluxe Mac and Cheese has additional recipes on the back. Those are definitely simple enough for beginners. They also sell a cook book called "The 4 Ingredient Cookbook". Go to your local bookstore and get it.

Start with eggs...... learn how to crack them....
OK we will start with an Omelet... crack 4 eggs into a jug/bowl....then using a fork/whisk..... give them a good whisk together.... add some salt and pepper....and a splash of milk or cream....then mix together again......
Chop/Rip some ham up and dice some cheese.....and quarter a couple of cherry tomato's.....
Get a large frying pan and heat with a bit of butter.... add the egg mixture to the pan and quickly arrange the ham, cheese and tomato's, evenly.....
keep it on the gas for about 3-4 Min's until you think that the bottom is cooked then .....
Move the pan and content under a pre heated grill ( keeping the handle away so it doesn't burn ).....
Watch it closely and you will see the omelet start to rise ...keep it there until it starts to brown .... then whip it out and serve immediately... with a splodge of Hellman's mayo... and thickly cut buttered toast.....Oh and a Mug of Tea..
And that is how I learned to cook......just keep practicing

G'day Melisha, i have a recipe here for chocolate mud cake. It can be made as 1 whole cake, or as little mud muffins! How's that sound? I will e-mail it to ya tomorro if thats ok with you. Just follow the method and you'll be fine, i'm sure you will enjoy it. I prefer them as the muffins, as i have trouble with the cake getting to cook in the centre properly.

try this... VERY, VERY YUMMY... taco salad...
you will need:... you can double or triple the ingredients for the amount of people that are going to be there...
1 lb of ground beef
2 cups shredded cheese... i use krafts mexican cheese mix...
1 packet ortega taco seasoning
1/2 head of lettuce shredded
2 tomatoes... completely optional...
1 bag of doritos nacho cheese tortilla chips... crush 'em...
salsa... optional... to be put on the side for an optional topping
sour cream...optional...to be put on the side for an optional topping
you want to brown the beef in a frying pan... on medium heat... following the directions on the taco seasoning packet... in a large salad bowl... mix the lettuce, crushed doritos, optional tomotoes... after the beef is cooked turn off stove, add the cheese, then once the cheese is mixed, put the beef and cheese in with the salad mixture... put some extra cheese on top... and serve with the salsa and sour cream on the side... for those who don't like either...
