This makes me really cross, for all of you that go to church and have your belief in your god, have little or no respect for other religions!
I do not attend church or believe in god, but what i do believe in is people!!!!
I think that all religion is a way of controlling those who follow it.
I have just read a question on here, "why are all muslims evil"
What a daft and horrible thing to say.
Just because a person has a religion that you don't like or believe in, does it give you the right to slam them for it.
NO

Well put! It makes me wonder too, how is religion, which is supposed to make you a more peaceful and good person, have exactly the opposite effect on some of us?

You have every right to be. If my beliefs and culture were slammed, I'd be insulted to and such questions as mentioned is wrong. And I have seen far too much manipulation being used on people in the name of God.
However, can I give you a possible viewpoint?
There are some who actually have been through bad religious experiences and will label such as evil.
Another viewpoint which IS potentially volatile is this.
IF someone actually discovered the Truth which would null all other truths, they might feel duty-bound to try to tell others that they are being deceived. This person does not intend to disrespect other beliefs as he knows they are sincere but... what if they are sincerely wrong? What if the very thing they should put their faith in lets them down in the end?
Remember Columbus was ridiculed for saying the earth was round.
There are some things that are taught that naturally can't be reconciled with what we actually know.
I do not believe in the right to slam other religions disrespectfully as everyone has the right to choose what they believe in but please make sure that what you put your ultimate faith in is what you can actually believe in.

you may have noticed that the answers you are getting are nothing to do with the question and they are making your point. most of them are saying this religion is the only one etc. well my answer is: i agree with what you are saying one does not have to believe in god by going church at the end of the day what difference does it make if you do it at home or in a boat for that matter. and yes people don't except differences this is where are attitudes come into it. and yes are attitudes stinks. people only focus on the bad stuff because lets face it its more interesting and it sticks out more one other thing is alot of people cant look or speak for themselves when it comes to religion too notice how there's always a nasty little person speaking and telling them how they should live and worship etc? i ask what right does that man have to stand up and say hes the messenger of god etc. and you are right labeling religions from bad and good is not nice and its unchristian like, its judging isn't it?

Like Napoleon once said ,"religion is the opium of the peole" i.e. it makes them easier to control.
But on a more serious note, as i am a believer myself, religion is not at all important, but who we believe and why we believe is what really matters. To follow a religion the love and feeling for your belief has to be rooted deep down in your heart. You dont follow religion for the sake of it, but because of a believe in a super natural element which in a way explains why we are on this earth, what will become of us when we die and whats the whole purpose of life.
To slam a religion simply because you do not believe in it is myopic. If Muslims are cruel then Christians are cruel, because one does not become cruel by being affiliated to one who is cruel or has done a cruel deed.

I agree with you on some point, and to add to this, I would like to say that it is people who needs to respect one another rather than trying to criticise one another or killing/converting innocent ones.
What others truly need is EDUCATION, in terms of real religious education, where people learn about all the different religions and make their own choice (which is almost impossible, in fact but this option is always open to those who genuinely seek out the truth rather than ignorantly proclaiming that their religion is the one and ONLY true religion in the world).
All religions in the world are man made, created by none but us, humans and we have the choice to choose our own destiny rather than pre-determined or be damned.
Being human we have the capability of instilling knowledge and developing wisdom which no god or priest coult 'empower'. Therefore we all MUST cooperate rather than seeking for weaknesses in one another.
Look at each other's religion, none of them are 'perfect'. Even the most 'perfect' of religion is not free from blame. Why? This is simply because of the difference between view and realisation.
Those who made the effort to seek out eventually will meet with the truth/realisation, which belongs to each and ever individual, not just one. Truth cannot be changed but views and hopes can.

I am sorry, if you do not believe; that the Word of God -- not my opinion -- says that all who do not believe in Him or His Son Yeshua (Jesus Christ) will be punished.
Look at it this way ::::
The USA has rules and laws which the citizens must obey, or they are punished for disobeying those laws.
The Kingdom of Yahweh (God) is the same, He has His Laws; which all citizens must obey in order to gain or keep citizenship. But unlike the USA or any other nation on this planet; the Kingdom of Yahweh will not have any "illegal residents".
Regardless, of whether you believe or not or what you believe; Yahweh will judge all people ACCORDING to His Will, Standards, and Laws.
"How many times have you been disappointed by someone for whom you voted, been betrayed by a friend, abandoned by a loved one, or let down by a church leader? While we love others and care about them, every other person in our world is just like us -- a flawed human being who breathes the same air and walks the same ground as we do. Only One is worthy of our ultimate trust. He showed his trustworthiness to us by sacrificing what was most precious to him so we could know his love. Let's not put our hope in other mere mortals; only God can safeguard our trust. Let's put our hope in him!"

I am religious, but I totally agree with you that no one should be disrespectful of other people's religion, or lack of religion. What should matter is if the person is living in a way that merits respect. People of all religions, and people of no religion, deserve respect if they live in a moral way. I think that intolerance is one of the biggest problems among religions today.

Don't brand religions like that. As far as I've known only Islam is fierce and that too because they have misinterpreted whats in the Koran. Perhaps to satisfy their ends.
Hindus ,Christians ,Buddhists, etc live in peace. They don't trouble other people of other religions. Islam at present is heading towards doom.
And there is GOD.
