I live here in Perth and i was just wondering what visitors think of my home town. Be honest :)

I used to live in Perth but now live in Queensland. We moved so that my girls could be closer to their Dad and so my youngest daughter could get better swimming training.
Perth is a long way away from the rest of Australia and takes 5 hours on a plane from Brisbane.
It is a clean city, likeable lifestyle and great climate (although a bit hot in summer)
Due to the lack of population, there is often not much of a choice in products and it lives up to its name of....
W.A. = wait awhile.. as things have to come from the Eastern States.
Housing is cheaper and the breeze in the afternoon is great in summer.
Yes, I would go back to live there but circumstances keep me here now. The grass is always greener on the other side.

I've taken over my fiance's log in to answer this question as I was born and bred in Perth, WA and I adored it (I lived there for 24 years before moving to Brisbane to be with my man). I don't think I would have ever moved otheriwse. People here in QLD rave about their beaches on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast but you cannot beat the WA coastline especially Cottesloe on a hot sunny day. Out of the all the states that I have seen in Australia I beleive that Perth is the prettiest and cleanest and the people are so friendly. It may be the remotest city in Australia but that's what makes it so special. If your ever looking for a great place to take a holiday I would suggest Perth and the rest of WA. Spring would probably be the best time to visit with all those pretty widflowers in bloom, now thats an amazing site. Perth will always be home as I would rather be a called a sandgroper than a banana bender any day :-)

I have lived in Adelaide, Melbourne, briefly been to Sydney and Brisbane, and went to Perth from my home in the Adelaide hills last month for my son's wedding on the beach at Yanchep.
The ambience in Perth is similar to that in Adelaide. I felt very comfortable in Perth, even though most of the time a didn't have a clue where I was! The development in Perth is obvious, and the spread up and down the coast make it look like a long stretch of seaside suburbs. The Swan is an amazing scene, and Kings Park the best park I have ever seen.
But the humidity and the tropical atmosphere at this time of year I found oppressive. Where is the Fremantle Doctor these days?

I live in busselton which is 2-3hrs south of perth, I dont like perth at all and would rather live somewhere like broome but that is just my honest opinion and everyone is different which is what makes the world an interesting place to live

I've been in Perth for about 10 months now and have found it really easy to settle in. The people are alot more socially interactive than what I was use to, Its really cool. Theres not alot to do until you find a good group of friends. Its a very deserted type city with not alot to offer when comparing it to what the rest of the world has, but I like it all the same.

i've been here for more than four months and i really love it. for me,it's stress-free living here unlike where i grew up,where people have to rush all the time as if time they'll always run out of things if they don't hurry.
people have time to give way to each other.
people have time to stop and say hello.
people are so warm and friendly. (except for a few of my co-asians)
i love the windy days but not the extreme heat on a sunny day. that's one of the two things i hate the most here.the other one would be, no 24/7 shops around the corner..:<
i love the fact that it has a low crime-rate.
i love the peace and quiet.
i love the birds in the park.
i love the fact that i could go biking anywhere.
i love the very organized transperth. really, i think they should be commended worldwide for a really good service. whoever thought of smart rider, you're the best! :)

Only in the zoo or privately owned zoos, the crocodiles live 3000 km north of Perth. From Broome up they are wild & protected there was a crocodile found in Port Hedland 2000 km north of Perth, that was after a cyclone.

Not so much behind the times, but more like free of some of the more unsavoury aspects of other capitals. However, even Perth has a couple of areas to avoid at night.

Its great. I have lived here for 28 years, after being in the UK for 22 years. I agree with everything toymod's partner said, but I think it is also the remotest capital in the world not just OZ.

Do not move, visit or come to perth. There is nothing interesting, no good shops, nobody interesting comes here(I mean celebrities. In magazine when they talk of "celebrities" in perth they mean the footy players and tv presenters!), schools aren't that good, no good places to visit really. By the way I live here and have lived here my whole life. my mum wants to move to England but can't afford it. She hates it here and when I'm older I'll probably leave here too. Besides in 100 years they expect perth to be no longer able to sustain human liufe coz it'll be too hot. Perth is rotten don't come here!
