Are the extra 5500 NATO/ISAF troops moving into Southern Afghanistan, there for the ‘Spring Offensive’ or to flex a military muscle to Iran?

I have to agree with the guy above me (bfpo....) in that 5500 is a mere DROP in the ocean for what is NEEDED to get the job completed.
I came across his site recently, and his words actually do make sense, because you can't argue with FACTS.. and to back his words up, he shows VISUAL FACTS... and right enough, 5500 is insult to injury to those ground troops.
Unless the politicians who sit behind thier desks are prepared to honour the Prime Minister Tony Blairs PROMISE made on NATIONAL media coverage on 6th October 2006 that "WHATEVER OUR TROOPS NEED ...." (I bring your attention to the words NEED - NOT WANT MIND YOU)..."OUR TROOPS WILL GET" UNQUOTE Prime Minister Tony Bliar (sic)

.. all they will be doing in reality will be sending over more cannon - fodder !... and YOUNG cannon-fodder at that.

As for USA.. well isn't the argument there to withdraw all U.S. troops... yet again?.. well they have had plenty of practise at that !! - Sorry to be blunt, but the FACTS speak for themselves... 77% withdrawn in 2003 from Afghanistan - the REAL source of this terror campaign !!.. and where did they go? Might I SUGGEST Iraq?... and remind me.. why was Iraq invaded this time?...
Unless those 5500 are going to be multiplied by 10 at the START.. and as a GROUP FORCE.. don't bother sending them.. dribs and drabs is not what is NEEDED !!
Listen to Company Commanders on the ground politicians. THEY KNOW what they are talking about... THEY are experiencing stuff you couldn't even DREAM OF... on a DAILY basis.
Unless politicians are prepared to put up the money to cover what is NEEDED when they make the order to invade - DO NOT ISSUE such an order to your troops...If another country asks for our help, THEY should contribute to theh coffers.. or look elsewhere.
The price is too much to pay otherwise.

Spring Offensive....... You think 5500 More troops are going to do it ! get a life, pull up a sand bag try 25,000 + more then you can call it a game play.... oh better still maybe the USA would like to send back some of the 77% of its troops it pulled out back in 2003! FACT if hadn't pulled out so many troops in 2003 we wouldn't be in the Hole we in there right now... not that the USA could even face that fact !

There is no offensive at all. No one has muscle whatsoever. Iran has us in check. Plain and simple. And yes it sucks. Maybe if we get the hell out of there and let the new Iraq leader deal with Iran that would be great. The blow back is that the new leader will probably aid Iran and side by them, therefore harboring more terrorists. All we did was stir the pot of ****. But I say we go out with a bang and cause grief for them in anyway.

They are flanked to the EAST,WEST and SOUTH.
2 aircraft carriers out number their whole Air Force,Their Navy is Out numbered and out gunned.
If they started something the results would not be in their favor.

No, it is because when winter ends, the Afghans will want THEIR country back. They have spent winter resting, training, re grouping, re supply.
They are a wise old war hardened race and sadly many western pawns in bush / blairs game will pay for it with their lifes.
Notice how there it is all about war on terror etc. No mention of democracy or the heroin etc that was the original misled reason.
