I hate to say it, but that has been an ongoing problem since the Revolutionary War. It's always going to be Side A versus Side B, and the rest of the C's will be sitting on the sidelines being critical of the A's and B's. The motivation is usually for monetary gain or profit.

The Democrats want to gain political power

The news media wants to increase ratings

The troops want everyone to shut up and let them win the war
